  • The Saints are the poster children for people who like to claim the salary cap isn't real, but they have been aggressively mediocre in a bad division for 4 years now and their cap situation is awful. Right now they are 97 million over next year's cap projections with 11 players having dead cap hits over 10 million dollars. I'm not even sure how they can cut 97 out. Cutting Lattimore, Kamara and Ramczyk gets you 40 million in savings. This shit is so bad, it's capology from a clueless team in the late 90s.

Out of any team that needs to tear it down to the studs they need to do it the most.

    • Was watching the first half for a bit last and thinking “wow Chase Young is actively bad”. Then this pops up this morning.

      • Chase Young looks like a guy who’s only playing for the money. Doesn’t care.

The Saints should have torn this down right after Brees retired, but they’ve been doubling down every year, horrible draft after horrible draft. It’s maddening. This run of injuries (might be the worst I’ve ever seen) is a blessing to finally get Mickey Loomis out and start over.

        • Yep, they are in a spot where their fans have to be hoping for a collapse so they truly tear it down. Tear downs can be overrated in the NFL but not here, it is desperately needed.

          • I can see how the owners deluded themselves - they finished 9-8 last year, just missed the playoffs, the division isn't very strong, maybe they can win the division and get into the playoffs this year. I don't think many agreed with that, but you can see how it could happen. But Saints fans need to hope the L's keep rolling in to force their hand.

            • It's that mentality that if you just get in maybe you can win it if the breaks go your way. That's happened before but I don't think the Saints profile as that type of team. In the NFL,.it's really easy to clear the books, it is basically one to two years where you are terrible and the it's OK. All they need to do is look at Denver. After this year, most of the crappy contacts are gone and they have developed some young guys as they have been going through the muck.

When you have three million in cap space during the season it limits how many times things you can do in two ways, you can't withstand injuries and you can't really use your practice squad to develop talent.

              • Most of the fans here are hoping for a collapse to get Dennis Allen out of town, but if Loomis doesn’t go with him, not much is gonna change.

Their injury situation is obscene. Missing last night on offense: LT1, C1, C2, RG, QB1, WR1, WR2, Slash1 (Hill), and the defensive injuries are almost as bad now with Adebo out. There’s a very good chance they bagel the rest of the season. Even the Panthers have a shot against them.

The days are looking grim for Dennis Allen’s regime after that goofy 2-0 dominating start.

Chase Young’s career trajectory is a curious one. I would assume that a combination of injuries and mentality (work ethic, professionalism) as a pro led to Young’s disappointing career. I say that because he was one of the best edge draft prospects in the last decade plus. Most of us would have been giddy if the Lions somehow drafted Young at #3 in 2020 instead of Okudah. That would have involved a team trading up for a QB at #2 and the draft didn’t fall that way.

And unlike Chase Young, you get the feeling that Jeff Okudah wants to play, but the injuries and his failures at his position are even more glaring.

He's now with the Houston Texans, and I'm not even aware that he's even on the playing field whenever I flip my NFL Audio Pass over to their games, since we'll be playing them in Houston next month on Sunday Night Football.

                        • So oblivious with the huge Lions win vs the Vikings, that I legit didn’t pay attention to the other games in the early afternoon slot.

Well, Packers defeated the Texans. Lame.

Oh well. Look at who is in 1st in the NFC North. 🤗

                          • The packers got a reception that should have been reviewed with 3 seconds left. If they had reviewed it, it would have been a ten second run off and the packers would have lost.

They didn't review it and they kicked a walk off FG
