Remember when this Cowboys defense was supposed to be amazing?

My *unbiased* observations.

The Lions are better than the chargers. The Chargers are Tampa Bay level.

I am not sure about the Cowboys though. I suspect that they are about as good as the Chargers, but they might be better

I think "peak" Cowboys, when everyone is playing up their talent level, are one of the better teams in the conference.

Problem is that front office is such a mess and the coaching staff is struggling to find an identity that works.

I kinda see when McCarthy came in, and the first thing he tried to do was simplify the playbook to cut down on Prescott's turnovers... similarly to how Caldwell tried to curb Stafford's turnovers. Within a season and a half, Caldwell realized that in doing so, he was taking away Stafford's strength, and they found a happy medium. It remains to be seen if McCarthy has Caldwell's wisdom.

All around the roster, it feels like the Cowboys coaching staff is trying to make square pegs fit into round holes.

We play the Chargers the very first game after the Bye, so in a strange way, Dallas might have given us one potential blueprint to handle Herbert.

Due to a scheduling quirk, our next 3 games are all against the AFC: On the road vs. Baltimore this Sunday, then Monday night against the Raiders the following week, and finally, on the road vs. the Chargers in our first game after the Bye.

I was thinking that too....he hasnt really been all that great but that is the trend to annoint players really early in their careers before they have won a thing.
