Lions are already popular, they are an underrated ratings draw. But it is a good suggestion for the NFL.

I'm sorry, but I remain entirely dubious that there is some untapped NFL fanbase that had been simmering among the ranks of the Swifties, and that they will remain interested after the novelty has worn off. It is not a particularly distant future where we'll look back at the NFL's antics and laugh, "Hey, remember when the league thought that would be a thing?"

Now let's get back to why Froot doesn't like these new-fangled dual-threat QBs.

Nobody said it's a long term plot, the NFL will find some new fad to try to juice it's ratings. But right now Taylor is the story and NBC was right to emphasize that as last night's BOFFO ratings show. The old men complaining for the Taylor Swift phenomenon are the same dudes complaining about the Super Bowl halftime shows. You never grow your audience catering to the old man purist demo, look no further than MLB.

I thought that Sauce Gardner penalty was a legit penalty. But watching a team take nearly 8 minutes to go about 60 yards that ended up with no scoring to end the game is bad entertainment even if it's technically sound football.

Oh, bullshit. You were crying about how Mahomes ran to end the game because he had a bad day throwing the ball. In your world I guess Mahomes was just supposed to say, "Oh well, I've thrown two picks. I guess I should just give up."

This is true, but it doesn't mean as a neutral fan that it isn't boring. Like I said it's technically sound, still boring. I've always thought the end of games in the NFL where you are doing math to figure out what you need to do so the team can kneel out the clock is suboptimal for entertainment purposes. I'm not sure what can be done to change it. But then last 8 minutes of last night was anti-climatic. Boring. The biggest excited was Saleh losing his shit on a legit call.
