    WOW! That was pretty.

The only thing is that they prob can’t do that again. If anyone sees them lining up like that next time a hard count would
draw him offside easily as he’s trying to jump the snap.

Either way it was a thing of beauty

        • Whenever the NFL says they are for player safety and keep adding games, it means they are full of shit. They will eventually try to replace all the pre-season games with regular season games. I’m sure they are already pondering an 18 game schedule.

Amen to that. I have no idea how teams are finishing the year at all. These players move like the wind and are built like Mack trucks.

            • Seems like 18 games is inevitable.
I was totally happy with 16 regular season games. Not much they can do to decrease these injuries. Again, players should demand grass field and two bye weeks in the next CBA when the NFL transitions to 18 games. Perhaps expand the roster to 54 or 55 players.

              • I don't know why we pretend to not want to see gruesome injuries like what happened to Chubb. These guys are making millions of dollars. Take half away for taxes, union fees, agent cuts, etc., it's still millions. They play a game of gore and glory. This is the risk they take. They sign a contract acknowledging that they can die or become quadriplegic.

If we really didn't want to see these injuries, we'd admit that football is horrendously inhumane.

3 hours of game time is 60 minutes of clock, which in reality is about 10-15 minutes of actual time in a play since the clock is often running in a huddle or while lined up. And in 10-15 minutes of actual play time with at most 16 games on a weekend, that's at most 240 minutes, or 4 hours. During these (at most) 4 hours, it's practically a miracle if no one sufferers a season-ending or career-threatening injury. Everyone whose season didn't end feels like they were in a car crash.

But yes, let's pretend we're humane and not show the gruesome injury.

                  • In the year 2400, they will teach in schools that:: "400 years ago, they played this game called American Football, or Gridiron. It was horrendous and barbaric and no amount of padding & protection could stop the concussions or the legs snapping. And it was banned."

"And then they only had Basketball, Miss?"

                    "Yes, Johnny. And shitty baseball."
"...when Hibernian won the Scottish Cup final and that celebration, Sunshine on Leith? I don’t think there’s a better football celebration ever in the game.”

Nobody wants to see that in any sport.
But what you described pretty much explains why I've stopped watching the NFL.

I watched an AFL (Australian Rules Football) equivalent of Steelers vs Ravens of the early 2000's last weekend (Carlton vs Melbourne).
Two evenly matched teams playing the same style of footy. Ball control, Physical.
No pads, nothing. Just some tape to hold some guys shoulders together.

The entertainment level of that game was off the charts.
The game flowed, no stoppage for commercials in a quarter.
You can beat me to death with commercials between quarters and at half time, I don't care. Just let the game flow.
In fact I watched them all. That was a game I was glued to.

                        I'll say this.
I can't remember ever seeing an ACL or Achilles injury in AFL footy and these guys are constantly moving, changing directions and dealing with getting tackled.
What they do seem to deal with are shoulder injuries. Seems like all the big guys are taped up.

                          • Rams rookie WR Puka Nacua, a 5th round pick (#177), has 25 catches and 266 yards receiving in 2 games......So when Brad Holmes traded three 5th round picks for Brodric Martin, who hasnt even played, those picks were not totally worthless.

                            • It's worth noting while there are injuries in all phases in football, I think it gets exacerbated at the NFL level. Players are too big and too fast. That's why I always laugh when you hear people say it is turning into two hand touch. Yeah right, they are doing most everything rule wise to take the cheap shot fouls out of the game and it has hardly made a dent except it has prolonged the careers of good quarterbacks and wide receivers. The problem is just your run of the mill NFL play has so many high speed collisions injuries are going to happen.

There are so many times during an NFL season where players leave the game never to return because of an injury and you don't see any play where he was injured. It would be interesting to see how many injury timeouts occur during the game, it seems like it is 2-3 every game.

                              • You ain’t lying. I still can’t believe CJGJ left the game with an injury only to return to play. A day later he’s out for the season with a serious injury. How they hell did he even return?
