What annoys me is the NFL’s holding epidemic. It became out of control this season with OLinemen getting away with obvious holds multiple times a game. Bengals were hurt by this yesterday, but there’s dozen of examples from games I’ve watched. Example: Rams vs Raiders with Maxx Crosby.
All-time gutsy performance by Mahomes with a high ankle sprain though.
AND going from Greg Olsen to Tony Romo commentary was a drastic change. You can tell the difference.AAL 2023 - Alim McNeill

Yes. Tony Romo is tough to listen to. Some of his shit is gold, but there is too much bullshit to wade through to get to the nuggets.
BTW... Bwahahahaha

The officials are very bad at their jobs. This isn't exclusive to the Lions. The rules themselves are open to so much interpretation (that can sometimes border on contradictory), and there appears to be no attempt whatsoever from the league to train their officials on how bias (either home team bias or team reputation) influences their calls.
I also don't think they are suddenly worse than they ever were, more than the technology for us to be able to see the mistakes and second guess them (and do so in real time) has improved.
It's not, and never been, a conspiracy. Just incompetence and an indifference to do better.Last edited by chemiclord; January 30, 2023, 10:44 AM.

The NFL is suffering from uneven application of replay. Sometimes they are doing expedited reviews, other times they aren't. It's not clear what the threshold is on when they do an expedited review. The result is sometimes the coach has to challenge, sometimes they don't and there is no guidelines. Yesterday Reid had used up his two challenges by mid third quarter. If they botched a call for him later on , he would have no recourse to get it fixed unless New York decided on an expedited review. It shouldn't be a strategy to get calls right.
Also, there shouldn't be a strategy to hurry up to snap a ball because your offense knows it wasn't a catch. That shouldn't be part of football. If the league is using expedited review, those plays are the time to use it.

Yep, it's dumb. It's also extremely weighted in the home team's and offense's favor. Granted, the NFL may like that but it tilts the field even more to teams in those positions.
Plus the fact that if that Smith catch had happened inside of 2 minutes they would have almost certainly reviewed it. Just ridiculous.

But on that same token, the league knows that letting coaches challenge with impunity means that every 50/50 call would have the ref (or someone) spending time sorting it out and slowing down the game.
I fear at this point, any replay revision would need to find a way to make coach's challenge toothless without making it obvious they are toothless.Last edited by chemiclord; January 30, 2023, 12:57 PM.

Get rid of the coaches' challenge all together and have every play reviewed by the sky judge with them signalling to the field if they call needs to be overturned or needs a closer look.

Problem solved
But we're seeing coach's challenges proliferate through MANY leagues... because fans like it.

A Chris Jones talent on rookie QB would be great. Betting on any rookie to be a player on the level of a Chris Jones is always a bit of a fool's errand. Also, I'm not a fan of trading up for non-QBs at the top of the draft. Throw in the fact that you're likely competing with teams that want to move up to for a QB, the price could get quickly out of hand. If Carter some how dropped to 4 or 5, then it could come into play, but he seems more likely to go 1 or 2.
