Aaron Rodgers: If we can just get one win, the whole momentum changes

There were some things to like about Sunday night’s performance for the Packers, but the final result was not one of them.

The Packers ran for 208 yards and kept the Bills out of the end zone in the second half, but the passing game never clicked offensively and the Bills were up 17 points at halftime so their second half slowdown didn’t cost them all that much. The 27-17 loss was the fourth in a row for the Packers and it dropped them to 3-5 on the season.

After the game, Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers lamented rookie wide receiver Christian Watson‘s injury early in the game and offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins‘ late scratch due to a foot injury as things that hurt their chances of finding a rhythm on offense. Rodgers, who was 19-of-30 for 203 yards, also shared his belief that the team still needs to find a way to get the one win that can push their season in a better direction.

“Nobody feels sorry for us. We’ve got to find a way to get one win. I feel like if we can just get one, then the whole momentum changes,” Rodgers said, via Jason Wilde of Madison.com.

The Packers will be in Detroit next Sunday to face the only NFC North team with fewer wins than they have through eight weeks of the season. It’s a prime chance to get that win and test Rodgers’ theory that they’ll start coming in bunches.

      • Stefon Diggs: I don’t care who started trash talk, I finished it

Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs had to be held back by his teammates from going after Packers cornerback Rasul Douglas after a 26-yard touchdown catch in the first half of Sunday night’s win and that was not the only time that he could be seen jawing with Green Bay players during the game.

Cornerback Jaire Alexander was also a target of Diggs’ on a night that the wideout said featured “the most talking that’s ever been with another team.” It began during pregame warmups and continued throughout the game even though Diggs and Alexander didn’t spend much time matched up against each other in Buffalo’s 27-17 win.

Their verbal sparring was still a topic during Diggs’ postgame media session, however.

“I don’t give a f–k who started it, I finished it. I got the win,” Diggs said, via Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com. “I don’t deal with moral victories. I don’t deal with one-on-one battles because it’s not a one-on-one game. . . . It’s a team effort, and I got a dub. I feel like at the end of the day there are no moral victories.”

At 6-1, the Bills don’t have to concern themselves with moral victories because they keep adding actual ones to their record and Diggs will be moving on to other battles as they try to keep the wins coming.

        • THe Bears have traded away two key defensive players this past week: Quinn and Roquan Smith...The tank is on but they have to play the Lions twice

          • They say that the Lions organization is where the Ford family puts their friends so they don't have to fire them from Ford Motor Company. That's what Thursday Night Football is, the NFL's dumping ground for games they don't want to mess up the weekend.

            • So, Ryan Fitzpatrick called them the Houston Tekkens, then said they had little chance to win.

I dunno, if Houston started throwing fireballs and shit, bringing in leopard men and cyborgs in on defense, I think they'd have a pretty good shot.

I think it's a case of the greedy being more greedy. WTF we need American Football to be played in Europe? 4 different time slots of games 9:30 am EST to Mid-night on Sundays. Unadulterated greed.

                    • The thursday games the last month haven't been interesting matchups either. That hasn't helped them.

                        • I have watched more TNF this year than any other year. I have Amazon Prime and I get these annoying push notices on my phone. The games have been underwhelming to say the least.

As far as NFL in Europe, they are trying to grow the money pile, in a lot of ways they are competing with soccer and basketball internationally. Live sports in general are going to continue to grow because they are the most reliable product to advertise on.

                            • The worst streaming I've found is that Bally's stream, the audio is a good 10 seconds ahead of the video. So if you watch the Pistons, you are one possession behind.

                                So are the Pistons.
