    Oh yeah, I remember that.

Millen: "Here's what we're gonna do. We're gonna draft a QB whose only significant strength is downfield passes."

Lions fans: "Alright, little odd, but go on..."

Millen: "Then we're gonna draft a bunch of wide receivers with size and the ability to get downfield."

Lions fans: "Okay, okay... we think we're getting what you're puttin' down..."

Millen: "Hold on, hold on, this is the genius part. We're gonna hire a bunch of West Coast Offense disciples to call the plays!"

    Lions fans: "Wait, WHAT?"

Millen: "The rest of the league will NEVER see it coming!"

Lions fans: "Mr. Ford, this guy is an idiot! Fire him!"

Ol' Man Ford: "Matt is a wonderful friend and is always nice to me. Meanwhile, all you plebians ever do is whine and boo about the product I give you. Not only am I NOT going to fire him, I'm going to EXTEND his contract, you ungrateful, unwashed, filthy peasants! Don't you DARE tell me how to play with MY toy that I bought with the hard-earned money my grandfather made for me!"

That's why I loved that Sheila Ford Hamp got booed Sunday. She's not responsible for her father's incompetence, but she needed to know that the fans are sick and tired of nearly 6 decades of their family's ownership.

      • Matthew Stafford named NFC offensive player of the week

In 12 years with the Lions, quarterback Matthew Stafford was named the NFC’s offensive player of the week once and that happened during his rookie season.

His first weeks with the Rams have seen the league take more notice of his play. Stafford was named the NFC’s offensive player of the week for his work in the team’s season-opening win over the Bears and his good play continued in wins over the Colts and Buccaneers the last two weeks.

Stafford was 27-of-38 for 343 yards and four touchdowns during the Rams’ 34-24 victory. The effort earned him his second weekly prize as the NFC’s top offensive player.

With 942 passing yards, a 70.2 completion percentage, and nine touchdowns, Stafford may also wind up taking the conference’s monthly honors and more of the same will almost certainly keep him in the MVP conversation as the season unfolds.
Trickalicious - I don't think it is fair that the division rivals get to play the Lions twice. The Lions NEVER get to play the Lions, let alone twice.

        • Cooper Kupp is the NFC offensive player of the month

Cooper Kupp has been an effective receiver since the Rams drafted him in the third round of the 2017 draft.

But with Matthew Stafford as his quarterback, he’s putting up numbers like never before in 2021.

Through three games, Kupp leads the league with 25 receptions, 367 yards, and five touchdowns. Now the NFL has named him the NFC’s offensive player of the month for September.

Kupp began the year with seven catches for 108 yards and a TD against the Bears. He followed that up with a nine-catch, 163-yard, two-touchdown performance to help the Rams beat the Colts in Week Two. And on Sunday, Kupp recorded nine receptions for 96 yards with a pair of touchdowns.

The Rams and Kupp will try to keep their undefeated season rolling against the Cardinals on Sunday.

          • The Lions haven’t won a game with a QB not called Matthew Stafford since 2011.

              • Lions had Mike Martz for a couple years. It was one of the few OC's that could use Stafford's ability to throw downfield to great effect. Too bad he was a bit of a dick and a nutcase.

                • Martz was.gone by the time Stafford got there.

                      • Can't believe Stafford couldn't get it done with CJ, Barry, Morton, Perriman and Mel Gray. Fontes should have benched him for Hipple.

                            • All kidding aside, if someone was making large wagers against Stafford based on his inability to beat top level QBs, I bet last week would have cost that person dearly…
