What is the use of 90 mil when you already have over 300 mil but you can't remember how to put on your pants and die early of CTE.

Something's fishy here. Maybe they're worried #9 will walk away?
Rams OC Liam Coen on Baker Mayfield: It’s a chance to evaluate talent

Quarterback Baker Mayfield is joining the Rams as a waiver claim and offensive coordinator Liam Coen stressed evaluation when discussing the decision to add the 2018 first overall pick to the roster.
Coen said that he’s “only heard great things” about Mayfield, who was waived by the Panthers at his request on Monday. Coen added that he believes Mayfield can “pick things up pretty quickly” and that his presence will help the team continue “to evaluate the offense, the other players” in addition to getting an up-close look at a player head coach Sean McVay and others in the organization liked when he was coming into the league.
“It’s a chance to evaluate,” Coen said at a press conference. “You’re looking for competition at every position. You’re looking for a chance to evaluate talent.”
Coen said he couldn’t say if Mayfield will have a chance to play against the Raiders on Thursday night or if he will play at all, although it’s hard to do much evaluation of a quarterback who isn’t playing. If and when Mayfield does take the field, Coen said the team is “realistic” about how much they’ll be able to do given the short amount of time Mayfield will have to learn the offense.

Baker Mayfield could play Thursday night for the Rams

The 49ers traded for running back Christian McCaffrey on a Thursday night. He played on Sunday afternoon.
The Rams could be trying something even more ambitious. New quarterback Baker Mayfield, who became a member of the team at 4:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday night, could play on Thursday night, when the Rams host the Raiders.
“There’s a shot,” an unnamed source told Adam Schefter of ESPN.com.
It could be a long shot, but it’s a shot.
As of 4:25 p.m. ET, the Rams were sending Mayfield a playbook, so that he can study the offense during his flight to Los Angeles.
It would seem to be a very tall task for the Rams and Mayfield. How much can he really learn in two days? How much practicing will be done before kickoff?
On one hand, he only needs to learn the plays to be used on Thursday night. On the other hand, he needs to learn the plays — the names of them, the assignments, the concepts. For a player like McCaffrey, he needed to know only what he was supposed to do on a given play. Mayfield needs to know what everyone is supposed to do, where everyone is supposed to be.
He has a clear incentive to get it done. There are five games left. Five auditions for Mayfield, as he approaches free agency. Whatever he does that looks good, helps his chances when the time comes to get paid on the open market.

Rams remaining schedule:
- vs Raiders
- at Packers
- vs Broncos
- “at” Chargers
- at Seahawks
Rams probably win between 0 to 2 of those games. The Broncos game obviously of such importance for that draft pick. Safe bet would be the Rams going 1-4. Mayfield randomly having one decent game.
Need the teams with 4 wins to win at least one more game. Give us cushion for if the Rams do win a game. For now, I say that Rams pick is a top 8 lock with the potential to go as high as #2 overall.
Go Raiders tomorrow!AAL 2023 - Alim McNeill

The Rams clearly won the Stafford trade. And that remains true no matter what happens.
But if we do end up picking #5 or something, -and- Stafford retires due to corpus fall-apartus, then it suddenly became a win-win. Each side got as much as they possibly could have out of the deal."Yeah, we just... we don't want them to go. So that's our motivation."
