I got the driveway cleared. I'll call the man to come take care of the rest. 10 years ago I would have just done it myself and saved some $$$. Oh well.

Hopefully my kitchen guy will come back tomorrow and finish up the finish work so we can schedule the cabinet guy to install the cabinets so we can call the counter top guy so they can install the counter tops.

I have become an advocate of calling the man.

This is probably not funny, but it is to me because I read THIS forum and read all the stuff that you guys have to endure with crippling weather. We here currently have a red weather warning issued to us by the Government to our phones because of Storm Eowyn. Currently "battering" Central Scotland. Winds could reach up to 85-90MPH.

Yes, ok....., strong winds for us......, but ......, in the grand scheme of things --->> its not Simon Island or Alabama weather is it!

And here is the hilarious part. On my way home last night, stopped in at Tesco for my usual bits and pieces (at 8pm; should be empty) --->> place was fucking MOBBED with panic buyers and there was ZERO bread left.
About 1.8 miles from my house there is a petrol station (gas station for Jaadam; where is that dude?)....., and there is a very small grocery part. Bread was in there. I told Affi, the owner who's been there for years that Tesco had no bread. He too was laughing his a$$ off.

My God......, if a "Hurricane" hit here......, hmmmm. I do not know. I think life as we know it would cease to exist.

I always get a laugh out the panic buyers that wipe out the bread, milk and toilet paper before a storm. How much fucking bread can you eat and milk can you drink before it goes bad and will the storm make you shit more?

Metro Detroit doesn't really get the really bad weather. Frigid January and February is about it. We don't even get the snow really. But if you live in the UP, you get hammered with snow. The roads are like snow canyons with flags attached to the cars so you can see them coming from over the snow

My sister went to Lake Superior State during the time when the city has a 5 day record of snowfall in 1995 of 62 inches. Cars were literally buried in snow.

Ye see, that is completely apocalyptic to me.

Was stranded in Braemar back in the early 2000's (very mid Highlands) ...., no idea of the snow levels but it was NO WHERE close to 62 inches. But I was still like, "FK THIS! Get the snow cleared and let's get back to the 'Burgh!"

Ain't no weather guy in any shape or form and it confuses the hell out of me the differences in weather patterns across the Northern Hemisphere. I mean I assume the UK and USA are almost on the same levels of latitude? How the hell are the snowstorms so freakishly worse over there? Must be something to do with "The Pond". I know that is to blame for the Hurricanes etc.

When I was a kid growing up in the thumb, it was the same. Not a lot of snow, but just miserable in late Jan and Feb. Drab and grey with wind that would cut right through you. We moved to the 'burbs in 72. Lots of dirty snow plowed from the roads piled up that didn't melt til March. I moved to Muskegon in 78. It was a completely different world. Fresh powdery lake effect snow almost every day, winter still dragged on but it was much more tolerable. I did a lot of cross country skiing and one year we had fresh powder 40+ days in a row. A lot of cars had bicycle flags attached to their bumpers so you could see them over the snow banks.

The snow in the UP, upper lower peninsula Michigan and Western New York are due to the lakes. It gets really bad between Syracuse and Buffalo. They can get hit with a lake effect storm and a Noreaster from the Atlantic. Snow plows in New York are so big, they look like something out of Mad Max

Don't I know it -- I drove through a snowstorm this past week driving home from upstate NY. Weather reports said all clear all day when we left. Snowstorm hit an hour before we got there and continued through our drive, shutting down a lane and forcing everyone to drive with hazards. SEWWWW much fun

Syracuse gets the most annual snowfall in the USA on average.
