Long story short, ex wife is at stage 4 kidney failure due to her type 1 diabetes and its been incredibly stressful for my kids. Myself & wife have been watching the grandchildren a lot so the kids can deal with their mother and all her daily stuff. Well, 2 of my kids are, the eldest moved to New York in August. (His partners job took them there).
Also got Scottys next scan next month so that worry is creeping up.
All in all, had an internet break completely except for work purposes only……. LOVE those plumbing & heating websites!

Something came up on the email from that Quora site that piqued my interest on the OJ case, ...., fell sort of a quarter into that rabbit hole reading the comments....., some guy posted a comment with a link about some Police Officer in Oklahoma City in 2017......., fell further in......, then noticed it was an archive story on an "up to date" page. Fucking started reading Oklahoma City news FFS! Fell right in. Almost a whole hour reading Oklahoma shit. ......., a guy with a machete leading police on a chase.... someone critically injured in a pedestrian crossing crash......, a 2.7 magnitude earthquake FFS!!......, and err, a shop called QuikTrip has Halloween Freebies!! Fkn GET IN!"...when Hibernian won the Scottish Cup final and that celebration, Sunshine on Leith? I don’t think there’s a better football celebration ever in the game.”

I've been a bit quiet on projects of late. The reality is that I have slowed down quite a bit this year. I guess age is starting to catch up with me. **sigh** I have replaced a screen door on our porch, done some minor painting projects and replaced the lights in the kitchen with recessed lights
But...
We started our kitchen remodel. We have a small galley kitchen with a little breakfast nook and it is in serious need of an upgrade. I've been saving my pennies for a couple of years to buy appliances and decided to pull the trigger before Trump's stupid assed tariffs send prices soaring and all of the people who actually work get deported.
Lowe's had a huge sale over Veterans Day weekend and we saved about $1500 on the purchase of a new stove, microwave and dishwasher. While we were at it we decided to finally replace the old washing machine as well.(we bought a new refrigerator about a year ago).
We are having cabinets built. They should be ready in a couple of weeks. In the meantime we needed to take up the tile floor and demo the kitchen so the cabinets can be installed. We will put down new flooring after the cabinets are installed. We are going to replace all of the flooring in the house and the kitchen is the starting point.
We have the same people that put our countertops in our rental lined up to install quartz countertops and a single basin deep sink once we get the cabinets in. I will put in a bead board backsplash once all of the work is done. We are trying to go for a bit more coastal look without getting too sappy/touristy beachy. Beadboard does a nice job of that without being too over the top.
I hired a guy to take up the floor (something I would have done myself a year ago) and his crew took it out Wednesday. He charged $3 a sq ft so it came out to just over $500 bucks to have it done. They got it done in about four hours. It would have taken me a week. Ha!
I also had them bring the new stove in from the garage before they left. I gave them 20 bucks for their effort.
I have a guy lined up to demo the kitchen (another thing I would have done myself a year ago...) For $1600 he is going to remove all of the cabinets, wall paper and popcorn ceiling, and then float coat it all and paint it. I think that is a hell of a deal. We'll have him come in after Thanksgiving.
