  • Yes, very nice, CGVT, good job.

Although I will say, I also liked the tiles you covered over. Those were also very nice. I’m sure new owners would’ve liked them as much as the new job.

The trend here is white. Everything is white or a variation of white with some darker colors to stand out, but a lot of homes are white on white. Even my grey cabinets are probably a little too dark, but I'm not painting those fuckers again

In the market that we are experiencing now, we would have certainly sold without any of the upgrades that I have done, but for a minimal cost other than my time, we will probably garner another $25 to $50k more than we would have had I not done them.

      Finished product.

      • Excellent job. 👍👏👏👏👏

Something I’ve never tackled before. And tilers here are always too busy.

True story from around 8 years ago. Tiler Scott, at the time was around 27 years old, self employed and BUSY BUSY!
He was on a job on Minto Street in Edinburgh for a contractor and I turned up to install a towel warmer. I asked Scott if he was available in a month to do some tile work on one of my own installs……. True story ——> he started physically crying. I was like, “🤷‍♂️ What the fk is wrong”
“I’m getting married in two weeks, going on honeymoon for three weeks and I’ve got 4000 jobs to do, waaaaaaahhhh, there’s nae time! Waaaaaaahhhh!”

Gave him the best advice ever…… something my late grandad once told me when I was stressed out with too much work…….,
”Ye can only pi$$ with the cock you’ve got, Scotty!”

          That is odd.

          • Progress report:

I've been dodging rainstorms and trying to get my deck stained. I replaced about a third of the boards and been waiting for good weather. We have a pretty good chance of rain every day for the next week so I took a chance this morning when we had a 60% chance and tried to get the stain down because time is running short to get the house on the market on the 1st. I'm like one of those stupid-assed home improvement shows. "WE ONLY HAVE THREE DAYS UNTIL THE OPEN HOUSE" Ha! I got the deck done and am hope the rain holds off long enough for it to set up. We'll see. I also got my front entryway painted and replaced the door handles and locks yesterday. The guy that pressure washed my house wrecked about a half dozen screens, so I've been rescreening those when I watch the playoffs at night. Have a couple more to do.
I've probable done about 50k worth of work on this house (three renovated bathrooms were the biggest jobs that would have cost about 15k each to hire out). It has cost me well under 10k to do the work myself.

I am really tired of working on this house.

And...Fuck that fucking deck. I'm glad I won't have to do that job again.

Yeah, we had that damn tropical storm and it has rained every day since. To top it off, it is Africa fucking hot here. I was drinking water constantly when I did the deck and I am still down five pounds from this morning. Just took in about a tsp of salt so I don't cramp up tonight

                • The rain has killed the year down to mid 80s, but its been reported some poor communities have had 7 inches of rain in the last two days. The freeways are flooded, it is supposed to be the start of the dry season.

                    • After I dropped my friend off at home Friday night, a drive that would normally take 20-30 minutes to get home took me over an hour. So many road closings and flooded streets.

                      • All that work to applaud but i’m drawn to wondering what you’re smoking in that damn fine looking pipe!

Great job and can relate to the FTF deck attitude. I HATE painting / staining decking.

True story from a month into lockdown, (April 2020) oil staining the deck to give the varnish look, ……. Stepson a newly self employed painter / decorator and looking to impress.
A plan hatched in my head……
I oiled two full planks of deck in an extremely half arsed way and it was patchy as fk……. Daniel walked out and was like, “aw man, no no no no, you’re not applying that very well!”
”Dan, i’m shit at this. Any chance maybe you ….. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️“
”Aye nae bother, i’ll get that done no worries.”

                        Sorted!

                        • On today's agenda:

I need to pressure was the cement pool deck and get some gray stain on it. It wouldn't be a bad job, but fucking Hurricane Cindy blew my Leyland Cypress over so they are leaning over the pool a bit. If we were staying here, I would cut them down and replant something. Instead I am trying to figure out how to get underneath to clean it and stain it.

I need to rent a trailer and get a pallet or two of sod to lay in the back yard. Boone was trying to rid our yard of moles, one tunnel at a time. I put down 15-forty lb bags of topsoil a couple of days ago to fill all of the holes and my grass is real spotty. Laying some sod will make a huge difference. While I have the trailer, I'll take a load of old furniture and other crap to the dump.

It is going to be a busy day.
