That shouldn't have been too bad. I don't know why I wasn't thinking of a rectangular hole being cut. That should be pretty easy. I was thinking of the bathroom I did with two sinks - they were oval cutouts. Now that is where a jig saw is really needed. A sink to the left, and one to the right in the master bathroom.
They kinda looked like.....
Didn’t really have to quote your post, Dpat to ask my question, but what the hell ——>> that picture is worth seeing twice! 👌
But did you think it was possibly an oval sink in the kitchen? Asking out of pure ignorance here, but …… an oval sink in the kitchen? Is this a thing in America?

Many, especially the GP’s reckon we are clutching at straws with the Keto diet and living in a state of ketosis is BS…….. but it starves the cancer. Sugar is something cancer loves but with a massive reduction in carbs helps hugely.
I am a big advocate of the benefits of keto, Marko
I've been keto for a few years. When I was in the Coast Guard I would go on and off of half assed low carb to keep my weight under control. I probably did that for ten years. After I retired I ate like a 20 year old for a few years and went from about 200 lbs to 275+. I got tired of being a fat bastard and feeling like warmed over shit all the time. I had sleep apnea and had to use a C-pap machine to sleep, frequent bouts of gout (fucking debilitating) arthritis in my ankles, my knees and hips ached all of the time and couldn't tie my fucking shoes without getting out of breath. I went hard core keto in July 2017. I got down to 185 in a little less than a year, but as I said, I was hard core.
I didn't eat any manufactured keto foods, averaged under ten g of total (not net) carbs per day, cut out almost all artificial sweeteners and cut all alcohol . Once I got into ketosis and especially after I got fat adapted and started burning fat for energy instead of sugar, I felt fucking amazing. I fell off the wagon every now and then, but I got right back on and continued chugging along.
I fell off the wagon and started eating like a 20 year old for about a year and got back up to about 245 and was feeling like shit again before I got my shit together last summer. I am not as hard core now. The main difference is that I am drinking liquor and wine when I feel like it, so I am not losing weight near as fast but I am back down to about 215. BTW, I cannot drink beer. Period . And that fucking sucks.
I did a ton of "research". I read everything about diet and nutrition that I could get my hands on. I came to the conclusion that we have been sold a bill of goods as far as eating goes. In the history of man, we have only been eating grains for a few thousand years, a blink of the eye. For the vast majority of our time as a species, we ate protein, fat and occasional seasonal fruits with very few vegetables or other plant foods. I have found that I function best when I eat that way.
I also believe that weight loss is much more hormonal, specifically insulin control, than thermal. Calories in/calories out only works until it doesn't. You can't out exercise a bad diet (well I guess you can when you are young). The "everything in moderation" take on eating doesn't cut it. Insulin control is the key.
People will say that keto is not sustainable, that when you stop eating keto you will gain all of the weight back. No shit. If you lost 100 lbs going to Weight Watchers and stop following the plan, you gain the weight back too. Sticking to any way of eating is a challenge. It is just too easy to grab a Big Mac and fries or a carby, sugar laden snack when you are on the run.
For me, the benefit of keto outweigh any negative. When I am keto, I never have a gout attack. When I eat carbs, I am constantly on the verge of an attack. I can feel it in the the ball joint of both feet, just waiting to fuck me up (if you have ever had gout, you will know what I mean). My arthritis in my ankles is gone. I don't get up in the morning and limp around. My blood pressure is lower and I don't need to use that fucking C-pap machine to sleep. I don't need my afternoon nap. My energy is higher and my mood is almost always better. (My wife knows when I fall off and eat carbs because I become a cranky old man)
Anyway, I could bore you with this shit for hours. But the bottom line is that I think that there are tremendous benefits to keto and Scotty is making the right choice. Tell him that it is sometimes a tough battle. Good Lord, Giving up beer is a bitch. It's not the end of the world if you falls off, just get back on and keep plugging away.
Enough of this shit. I gotta go fix that damn plumbing.
I feel like I am watching the destruction of our democracy while my neighbors and friends cheer it on
Is keto the same as the Atkins diet? I did that a long time ago and had good success with it. But it wound up costing me my gallbladder.
Any diet without beer is cruel!
It is a lot like it except you don't "climb the carb ladder"
In a nutshell it is keeping your carb intake low enough that your body goes from burning sugar as a fuel to burning fat, (converted to ketones) whether dietary of body fat.
Most people can maintain a state of ketosis by reducing carbs to 20 g net (Carbs minus fiber and sugar alcohols) I have found that I do best with less than 20g total carbs.
I eat mostly meats and fats. No processed vegetable oils (they cause inflammation) I eat saturated fats like butter and animal fats and olive and avocado oil. I eat some green veggies and an occasional salad but I am probably about 90% carnivore.
I remember testing my urine when I was doing Atkins, I burned the fat so quickly when I hit ketosis! The diet seemed pretty satisfying but for me it wasn't sustainable long-term.
Just read the recent posts in this thread. Didn't know your son had a tumor Marko. Glad it was malignant and they were able to remove the whole thing. I'd be a complete wreck if that was me. That's a very impressive operation. You had a very talented doctor thank God. Hope your son returns to his normal self soon.

Best post I've ever read. And that part in bold nearly turned me into Dan Greetin faced bastard Campbell. Immediately shared your post with Sacha (wife) with the caption….. “someone with real experience & who understands!!!” 👏👏👏👏
If you believe you could bore me with Keto stuff, I think i’d stand a chance at equally boring you. In fact start the Keto thread.
From the heart, thanks for taking the time & effort to post the above and subsequent posts with Deborah. Means a great deal. Cheers man, ——>> but with cups of tea, no beer!

Cheers DanO Boy……. Yes, the doc, pre-op was the calmest guy i’d ever met although extremely matter of fact, which freaked Scott out a bit.
Paul left the room and Scotty said, “Aw well, could lose my hearing in this ear. Could be right side paralysed. Might have slurred speech, partially blind potentially and could die. But apart from that, piece of feckin cake eh?!”

Nice post CGVT. I limit the carbs and sugar. Eat mostly meat, veggies and some fruit. Stopped drinking beer several years ago. I'll one every now and again but nothing like I use to. If I want alcohol it's liquor. I've had gout. Started during hunting season. Didn't know what it was. My dad drove me to the bridge while my mother followed. I had gout in both feet. The night before I left I had to crawl to the bathroom and pull myself up on the toilet. That was the worst attack. I had more minor ones every 6/7 months. Haven't had one now in 10 yrs. thank God.

Man, Dano. Gout is some of the worst pain that I have ever experienced. First time I got it was the day my father died. I think he gave it to me for making fun of him having it. I got it two other times when family members died. After that there was no connection to death, but it was pretty fucking strange the first few times I got it.
I remember thinking "I can't have gout. Gout is an old, fat man's disease." Then I looked in the mirror......Dammit!
People that have never had gout cannot fathom the pain. For me, it was so bad that I couldn't sleep. Having a bed sheet touch it was excruciating. Hell, I think it hurt when a breeze hit my foot.
Fuck that fucking gout.

Just having a brain fart. I just was reminded of my project cutting similar counter tops, and remembering how I was very cautious. Measure about 20 times - cuz it was a weird shape. Then it was just in my head, especially when he mentioned a jig saw - which is what I used. After that I was just thinking oval. So when I saw the hole cut out.... thinking to myself, 'well duh you dumbass... this is a kitchen sink! Of course it is not an oval'.
No, oval sinks in a kitchen is not a thing here. I was just thinking stupid.
But, cutting out that shape would not be nearly as intimidating as cutting nothing but curves.

Let me echo Dano's statement Marko. I didn't know about your son either. Glad he is doing well at this time. I can't imagine if my daughter were going through something similar.
Sorry Froot to hear about your loss as well.
My sister (she's an MD) had the exact type of tumor Kellie Stafford did. She lost her hearing on one side after the operation. A former boss I worked with also had the same thing - also was deaf on one side. Took a long time for me to figure out if I said something when she was walking away she wasn't just ignoring me.
Wishing everyone on the forum and their loved ones good health. Well, and a Superbowl victory.... but, well you know.
I wish us Rams fans could share the feeling with everyone and buy everyone a Coke, and teach them to sing in perfect harmony.

Not to change the subject, but I'm going to change the subject.
I just about have the kitchen finished. I finished up the plumbing on the sink and made sure that the water works and their are no leaks. I touched up some paint and painted the trim and pantry door. I also took off the "vintage" kitchen screen door off and took off the slats that held the torn up screen in place, took out the old staples and sanded it to make it ready to paint and re-screen
