Make no mistake, if he has to spend any significant scratch to help the Tigers take that next step... he ain't gonna do it. Mark my words.
This offseason is a major key to the future of this team....and you are right we shall see how it is handled financially.

Not to mention the best rookie hitter in baseball.

They have everything to do damage in the post season if they are healthy.

      • Last night might have been the cold bucket of a water on the longshot dreams of the post season. Tigers up 5-0 and Montero is relatively cruising through 4. Gives up a single and walk to lead off the 5th with Jackson Merrill coming up. Chris Fetter comes out for a mound visit, Petry says on the broadcast, "Merrill is a good 1st pitch hitter and Montero is a good first pitch strike thrower, but he can't try to get the 4 seam fastball over or Merrill punish him. I think this is what Fetter is saying to him "

What happens? Montero throws a 4 seamer middle-middle on the 1st pitch and Merrill puts it into the left field seats and the Padres were back in the game. They haven't really lost those type of games, they have to salvage a game tonight.

                • The dream is back on. If Parker Meadows can flirt with an .800 OPS as he has the last month, he has a bright future because he is a plus defender.

Up next the Athletics, who are 19 games under .500 but the Tigers have traditionally had issues in Oakland even when they were good

                    • They followed up the tough marathon loss last night with a win today.

                      • They won today 9-1 to finish the West Coast trip at 3-3. They survived and are now 73-71. They got some help from the woeful White Sox who beat Boston today. Right now the Tigers are 3.5 games back of the Twins

The Red Sox have a hard schedule the rest of the way. The Tigers get the Rockies at home for a three game stretch. The Twins host the Angels for a three game stretch.

                        Keep the dream alive

                        • They have to step it up so to speak. Or keep the foot on the gas peddle for another trite cliche. They have a tendency to fail when they start to gain some momentum and it looks like they are going to sustain contending ways. Expected from such a young team.

                          • They have the best record in the AL since July 1st. The pedal is on the gas

                            • Stayed up way to late for Friday night's game and that disappointing loss. Good to see them rebound and take the series from the A's - Big opportunity to tighten the gap with the next series home against the Rockies. Then things get challening..lots of games coming up against better teams. Keep the dream alive, indeed. Maybe we get Reese Olson back soon?
                              Got Kneecaps?

                              • Tigers gained ground on their off day due to the LA Angels of Anaheim and the New York Yankees. They are now 3 back of Minnesota and 5.5 back of the KC Royals. Unfortunately, the ChiSox couldn't help and now the BoSox are tied with the Tigers at 73-71.

The dream is alive for one more night.
