  • I thought the mic'ed up players took away from the presentation of the game. There was vast stretches of mumbling or dead air. One of the things about baseball is it is a sport where you can have it on in the background if you are doing something else but you can listen and keep up with the game.

They need to move the mound back or something, watching a parade of pitchers throwing high heat is boring.

    • The Big Papi thing annoyed me because it took away the last glimpse of Cabrera at an all star game. The segment might have been OK if it was between innings. He's a funny guy, and seeing him ask to get an AB is funny, but you should be focusing on the game action.A lot of these innovations they try would be OK if they were presented away from game action.

      • Ya, I could care less what the players have to say. Baseball and hockey players are quite boring and not very smart. They sort of have their own culture. One that should stay hidden.

        • What’s salt in the wound about the Tigers is seeing Correa and Verlander play well this season… Free agent targets that many Tigers fans wanted a few months ago. Either the owner was too cheap to sign them or the GM incompetently didn’t decide to. Perhaps it was unrealistic as fans to think about adding those two players. Whatever it is… at least there’s subpar Baez and the guy (ERod) that can’t be found… well done.

On the path to 20 games under .500. Woohoo! Please be sellers for the next week. Sell, sell, sell!

The good news. I notice Ty Madden is doing well. Maybe there’s hope in him as a prospect.

          • And the Twins dropped 9 runs on Detroit today to sweep the short 2 game series.

The Tigers have scored less than 2 runs a game I believe nearly half of all the games played so far this year, according to the Tigers radio broadcast.

That is beyond putrid and awful.

Who do they have to sell? That's the problem with betting on "the farm," it's not like anyone is interested in your prospects if they can't perform in The Show.

"Sell sell sell" remains a stupid strategy. They need to start fucking buying.

You have Chafin (a lefty having a very good year with an affordable 6 million player option) and Fulmer (FA at the end of the year).

2012 Detroit Lions Draft: 1) Cordy Glenn G , 2) Brandon Taylor S, 3) Sean Spence olb, 4) Joe Adams WR/KR, 5) Matt McCants OT, 7a) B.J. Coleman QB 7b) Kewshan Martin WR

                • And what do you think you'd be getting for those players? Would it even be worth selling them off?

Or is that the Tigers plan? Sell off everything to the studs every three years?

                  • Relief pitchers look good because they dont throw enough innings to get exposed...put Fulmer back as a starter and he would be exposed (if not on the IL in 2 days).......ALso none of these guys have actually played in a game with any pressure whatsoever...Do you think the Yankees are going to trust a guy like Michael Fulmer in a critical playoff game?

                      • Fulmer/Chafin/Soto should be dealt. They all could bring back quality, but it’s a deep relief market.

                        • The Yanks just lost King (not me) and Chapman is a corpse, so they need RP. They also lost Severino to a shoulder. So they need arms.

                          • I could care less about RP when our team sucks this much. Trade them all.

Quality what? What do you think the Tigers could actually get for the scraps that is this disaster of a team?

"The farm" is a disaster. It's proven to be a failure of a strategy. The only way out for the Tigers is to buy buy buy, not sell sell sell.

Last year they got Reese Olson (RHP) for the inconsistent Daniel Norris.

Detroit has seemed to unlock another level with Olson being able to strikeout people up 3.6 K/9 this year at Erie (AA) while lowering his walk rate by 1.7BB/9. He is striking out 35% of the batters he has faced so far this season and walking only 7.5% of batters faced. He is a touch more hittable this year but his WHIP is down a tick. A touch more homer prone and hasn't gone deep into games, but overall he is taken a step or two forward this year. He should be in the mix next year (not going to make the team out of ST).
