They are starting to win some games now, hopefully Miguel can continue his hot May.

Yeah you figure 90+ wins gets you in the conversation. Still think the Tigers are a fringe contender.
They did upgrade the team but they needed a high end bat and starter.2012 Detroit Lions Draft: 1) Cordy Glenn G , 2) Brandon Taylor S, 3) Sean Spence olb, 4) Joe Adams WR/KR, 5) Matt McCants OT, 7a) B.J. Coleman QB 7b) Kewshan Martin WR

The difference is one is trying to do it in a sustainable way - which takes time when you start with nothing.
The other threw cash at the problem and it still nearly took a decade to become a contender in anything more than a 1-off year.

Rebuild? Ha!
Owners: We suck, we're not going to spend any money and we're going to get rich. I know! Let's call it a rebuild.

Avila has had seven to "build up the farm" and the Tigers aren't even a .500 team. The only thing "sustainable" in this is idiot rubes like you handwringing over how much cash Chris I. is stuffing in his pocket because you bought his bullshit that the Tigers were losing money.Last edited by chemiclord; June 3, 2022, 09:48 AM.

In year 32 of the Ilitch ownership, the farm system will definitely start producing everyday players on the regular, you gotta trust the process. One thing you should never do is throw money at the problem because every World Series winner is organically created throught the farm system.
The funny thing about the off-season was their big signing was a right handed high strikeout power hitter. They threw money at a type of player that is going to suffer playing 81 games at Comerica. I thought it was better than having to see Zach Short play SS, but that hasn't even panned out. The .540 OPS is just a tad better than Short's 2021.
