  • Tigers shut out again, 9-0 to Oakland, in the 4th of a 5 game series that concludes tomorrow afternoon. The A's have already won this series by winning 3 of the first 4 so far.

Miggy had 3 hits ironically tonight.

      • Anytime you have to face Zach Logue with his intimidating 5.63 era from the PCL, it's going.to be hard to scratch out any runs. Pitching wise, Joey Wentz looked like a guy who would have felt at home in the 2003 rotation.

        • According to.the writeup of the game he was.pinimg the heaters in there at 89 MPH. In MLB Mr. Logue is in the 13th percentile in Velocity and 8th percentile in spin rate.

            Ha!

This team had me fooled. I thought they’d be doing way better this year. I know the loss of Riley Greene was tough but these guys aren’t showing any fight at all
            F#*K OHIO!!!

You're not only an amazingly beautiful man, but you're the greatest football mind to ever exist. <-- Jeffy Shittypants actually posted this. I knew he was in love with me.

I think since you posted this the Tigers have given up 13 runs in 2 games. The pitching is awful.

Still only 3 wins total for the SP rotation and 2 of them are Scooby. Other than him, 1 win in our entire SP group. 1.

              • Well, Joey Wentz (part of the return in the Shane Greene trade a few years ago) making his first start is part of that reason. Understandable.

The pitching has been fine. If the batting wasn’t pure crap, maybe the team is near .500 … Injuries on the pitching staff to Mize, Manning, Alexander, and Turnbull doesn’t help.

The Tigers started the season 6-7. 3-15 record since that start. Averaging what, 1 or 2 runs a game? Oof.

                • Yeah let's see how they end up at the end of the year in team ERA. Notice the hitters got shut out by a AAA pitcher. You keep on harping on wins for starting pitchers as if that were still a thing. If every game the hitters are going to produce 0 or 2 runs, I expect the starters might not get more than a couple more wins the rest of the season. Worst offense in the league.

                  • Well, the Tigers scored 3 runs today!!

They still lost to Oakland, 5-3, and lost 4 of 5 in the series to the A's.

                    • Yeah this rebuild has been going on for 7 years and I swear it seems like we are reliving the Radar years. They were two seasons back during Randy Smith that they had 79 wins in a season. Both times they had 79 wins they regressed the next season with 65-66 wins.

It's sad and a disgrace that I'm usually turned off to MLB and especially the Tigers by either the time of the NBA Draft all the way to the start of NFL training camp, and it wasn't this way, especially under Dombrowski. Since Mike Ilitch has passed away, his son is at best, apathetic towards the Tigers, and he'd better hope that Steve Yzerman can resurrect the Red Wings.

It's ironic that in the Detroit area, the Lions and the Pistons/Red Wings have more of a bright future than the Detroit Tigers.

Who could have seen this coming? That Chris Illitch would run this team exactly the same way as the last time he ran it?

                          • Yeah we are just in this endless pattern of waiting for some type.of.progress from any of the 4 sports teams. Following a losing baseball team is the biggest drag. At least in the other sports you can look forward to a draft.

Apparently only a few. I really enjoyed the Tigers from 2004 until they fired DD in 2015. They didn't win a title but they were a successful team and I was grateful that they had learned their lesson from the 95 season until 2003. That lesson was they could never go back to being stingy. I couldn't have been more wrong.

                              • I wasn't expecting the playoffs by any means this year, but was at least hoping for improvement. They just suck.

The good news is we're finding some bullpen pieces and the young SP are getting looks. We have A LOT of depth at SP and it's showing. Guys like Briske and Faedo have performed well. Wentz got rocked, so he's not really ready, but he's another guy coming off TJ.

I think Madden is going to be REALLY good. He may even be up at some point this year.

Garrett Hill is a guy dominating right now in the minors. He's older, but he could be another good find.
