I will agree with you guys in that he's probably ready to take some lumps in the majors right now. He could probably improve just as easily there.
In my opinion tho, he's not going to significantly help the team toward anything this season. There's a chance he'll be a bit overwhelmed initially, and I think he's much more likely to end the season hot in Toledo than the majors. That might be better in terms of carrying over momentum, plus waiting until next year to start the clock.
But if they call him up in September, hey whateverWHO CARES why it says paper jam when there is no paper jam?

Miguel Cabrera: 'Two more years' with Detroit Tigers before retirement
Evan Petzold
Detroit Free Press
ST. LOUIS — It's not a surprise, but Detroit Tigers veteran Miguel Cabrera has reaffirmed his plan for the future.
"Two more years," Cabrera said. "That's it."
In an interview Wednesday morning with ESPN's Sage Steele, Cabrera discussed his Hall of Fame career, reaching 500 home runs Sunday in Toronto and his chase for 3,000 hits, which he needs 42 hits to accomplish.
But the 38-year-old also talked about retirement.
"My right knee is really bad," Cabrera said. "I need to take care of this in the offseason and prepare myself for next season. I say two more years. I think that's enough. I will be happy with 20 years in the big leagues if I can make it. Thank God for giving me this opportunity. Two more years and I'm done."

Looks like if Miggy batted 200-for-800 over the next 2+ seasons (a .250 average with some time missed for rest and injuries), his average would only go down from .311 to .306 ... so I guess he should be safe to stay above .300 in just about any scenario. If he starts hitting .125 he won't play, I'd assumeWHO CARES why it says paper jam when there is no paper jam?

1,000 more career ABs for Cabrera.
200 hits.
.200 average.
Cabrera will have 10,519 career ABs, 3,158 hits, and a career .3002 hitting average.
Safe to say this stat will stay above .300
At his age, I can see Cabrera's health being an issue for the next two seasons. If Cabrera starts hitting at the "Laird line" rate, I agree... he won't play enough to tank his stats.
