  • They may not even get in a 60 game season.

If that happens, great. Tigers get another top 3 draft pick (unless MLB changes the 2021 Draft to some lottery thing).

I honestly think the Tigers have enough below averageness to go like 25-35 in a 60 games shortened season. However, if the season was 162 games this year, the Tigers wouldn't have the depth to keep up. Particularly if they have injuries to player positions.
The additions of Cron, Shoop, Romine, and Maybin to the lineup. Getting Jones back.
Starting pitching ok with guys like Boyd, Turnbull, Nova, and Norris. Fulmer a wildcard. Alexander too if Zimmerman or someone else fails.
Bullpen has a couple ok guys, but overall looks poor.
A 65 win team (which is what I think this Tigers team is) would get 24 or 25 wins over 60 games.
2012 Detroit Lions Draft: 1) Cordy Glenn G , 2) Brandon Taylor S, 3) Sean Spence olb, 4) Joe Adams WR/KR, 5) Matt McCants OT, 7a) B.J. Coleman QB 7b) Kewshan Martin WR

TBH, there is no point in having a season at this point. It's July and the 'Boys of Summer are no closer to being ready than they would be in January.

nice season but go through the PCL history and there are a lot of those kind of seasons.

            • Tork and Cabrera both signed. Guesses that Tork could play in MLB at some point this season since there's no minors, or at least be added to the taxi squad.

              • David Price is sitting out and giving up $12 million prorated. Keep in mind, he still has 2/$64 remaining (thanks Domrowski!)

Still, $12 million is a lot to give up. I think that’s the most so far in any sport. Trout has hinted at sitting out as his wife is having a baby soon. That would be a shock, but understandable.

                • Tigers have been streaming their intrasquad games for the last couple of days. Have been neat to watch.

                  Fulmer really struggled today.
Riley Greene, incredible. 2 RBI single + an amazing catch to rob Cron of a HR in LF. That one is perhaps as good as Derek Hill's catch the other day.

Ah, Tigers now Tweeted the Greene catch:

Greene did not look good at the plate Saturday though. You can see the talent but he is clearly at least a couple yers away though.

                            • Canada won’t let Blue Jays play home games in Toronto

Posted by Mike Florio on July 18, 2020, 7:01 PM EDT

Baseball’s plan for a truncated season has hit an unexpected hurdle.

Canada’s lone MLB team won’t be permitted to play in Toronto this year, because Canada has declined to allow it.

“Unlike preseason training, regular-season games would require repeated cross-border travel of Blue Jays players and staff, as well as opponent teams into and out of Canada,” Immigration Minister Marco Mendicino said, via ESPN.com. “Of particular concern, the Toronto Blue Jays would be required to play in locations where the risk of virus transmission remains high.

“Based on the best-available public health advice, we have concluded the cross-border travel required for MLB regular-season play would not adequately protect Canadians’ health and safety. As a result, Canada will not be issuing a National Interest Exemption for the MLB’s regular season at this time.”

That’s a semi-tactful way of recognizing that the United States has become a COVID-19 clusterfudge, with an outbreak sufficiently severe and unchecked to prompt Canada to decline to allow the Blue Jays to invite Americans teams to Ontario or to play in Canada after playing in the U.S.

“The safety of the broader community — our fans — and the team remained the priority of everyone involved, and with that, the club completely respects the federal government’s decision,” Blue Jays president and CEO Mark Shapiro said in a statement, via ESPN.com. “Though our team will not be playing home games at Rogers Centre this summer, our players will take the field for the 2020 season with the same pride and passion representative of an entire nation. We cannot wait until the day comes that we can play in front of our fans again on Canadian soil.”

The Blue Jays are exploring alternative sites for their home games, including the team’s spring training facility in Dunedin, Florida and the team’s Triple-A affiliate in Buffalo. Via ESPN.com, the lights at the Buffalo park may not be acceptable for Major League games.
Trickalicious - I don't think it is fair that the division rivals get to play the Lions twice. The Lions NEVER get to play the Lions, let alone twice.

                              • If you haven't started your season yet and the best you can do is play 30% of it - there is no sense in playing it.
I can understand the EPL, their season was 75% completed - and they needed to validate a champion. Not just any champion but the old guard returning to the top after what, 30 years?
