I did, because you could just look at both of those rosters and it screams, "Water will find its level." The Tigers have a bunch of people currently playing above themselves, as they tend to do over the course of a long season. If it's a case of young guys figuring it out and finding their next level, it might be sustainable... but I sincerely doubt it.

    • The Pythagorean W-L total says the Tigers should be 14-22. The Guardians, Sox and Royals all have very similar Pythagorean W-L. There is not much difference seperating these teams. In fact if you look over the stats for each of those teams and you didn't know the records, you would think they were the cellar dwellers. Rodriguez is carrying the Tigers, he's 2.3 wins above replacement level 8 starts in. It's going to suck when they deal him. Hopefully they get a truly good prospect in return. Lange has been carrying the bullpen, hopefully they keep him.

With this crappy division the Tigers might have been able to squeak out a 75 win team with the old schedule. Someone would have to win those games, with a balanced schedule Minnesota might run away with the division with 83 wins.

      • After that shit sandwich lottery we need to look on the bright side, the Tigers won. Lorenzen was good.

        • 20-22. That’s damn good for this team. Greene is pushing .300 and Tork is hitting the ball hard and making contact. Tork looks good to the eye test. More contact this year and he hits it hard. Reminds me of early Castellanos. Nick hit the ball hard and they just always found gloves. You have to let these young guys get their reps. I feel Tork is going to explode when the weather warms. He’s made some good adjustments.

I would flip Lange for a premium return. Bad teams should always flip bullpen arms. It’s clear the new regime is chasing OBP bats. We need more.

          • Malloy should be up soon, right? That could be a real new regime game changer if he rakes in the bigs. We don’t suck anymore. We’re grinding out wins and our SP haven’t been good at all. Two years ago we played like this. Hinch has been great so far. We’re playing some solid baseball and sometimes it’s the baby steps and focus on fundamentals that you can build on.

Malloy still has serious issues defensively especially at 3b

              • And he always will. He’s being blocked by a Miggy corpse. .940 OPS through 40 games at AAA with pop. Let him play corner OF or DH, but his bat should be called up. Miggy was done 3-4 years ago. Just buy him out and let him “sign with a contender.” I doubt he gets an MLB deal. He’s a righty who is cooked with no power. It’s gone on long enough.

                • We don’t owe Miggy shit. He’s been stealing $100 million long enough. It’s a joke.

No he isn't. Malloy is probably time to Jonathan Schoop. Once they are done with him then Malloy probably comes up. But it makes no sense to call him up if not playing everyday.

                      • Unless you think Malloy is a DH-only type guy, then Miggy isn't particularly blocking anyone.

                            • I hope Cabrera heats up or retires because anytime they talk Tigers on the radio, the callers only want to talk this subject.
