  • Who is worse: Matt Millen or AL Avila?
Detroit Lions: Where futility is a lifestyle choice.

    • Millen, as of right now, still has the stench of the WOAT. But Avila is getting there fast. He really kinda needs one season where the team completely craters to depths no other franchise has before, though. I think some people have forgotten just how horrific that 2008 Lions team was.

Hell, Avila's really only gotten to Randy's Smith's level at this point.

I'm getting the feeling it will be a photo finish. You're right avila needs the 0-16 type of year to have a real shot at the title.

If the Tigers lose about 120 games in any particular year, then Avila would have reached Millen status.

Looking at how the team is trending, that could be next year. I personally think that avila is safe for next year. We can expect more of the same.

            • They only won 47 games in 2019 and it feels like people don't even remember that.

              • Because that wasn't a really unprecedented level of failure like 0-16 was. 2008 attached a stench that lingered even though Millen was fired mid year.

                • Yeah I get that, but to me winning less than 50 games in a 162 game baseball season is worse than. 0-16. The Tigers have done it twice in less than 20 years and people really remember the 2003 debacle 43 wins is less than 47, but not by much.

                  • Well, considering MLB teams winning less than 50 games has happened more frequently than NFL teams going 0-fer, even if you're right, it still hits different.

Avila has pretty much had a 7 year free pass here......No pressure to win, results dont seem to matter.....

And an Owner that doesn't have a clue or care anything about winning.

                        • It's more that Chris I.'s definition of "winning" is a bit different than how a typical fan would define it.

Of course, excepting the miser bootlicker rubes who guzzle Illitch's lies of poverty.

                          • You will notice at a Tiger game there are plenty of people willing to pay 12 dollars a pop for beer and 6 dollars for cokes.

I'm not, even if I was still living in Michigan.

This team is just as bad as the '94-'05 teams, an era that I'd like to soon forget.
