Between 2006 and 2011 - there were only 7 winning seasons from the other 4 teams combined - and 4 of those came from one team.
It's not like the Tigers were facing Murderer's Row in the division back in the "glory days".

Avila has had seven to "build up the farm" and the Tigers aren't even a .500 team. The only thing "sustainable" in this is idiot rubes like you handwringing over how much cash Chris I. is stuffing in his pocket because you bought his bullshit that the Tigers were losing money.
That money bridged the gap - I'll never deny that.
That money did not make them a perennial contender - it took 5 more years till they reached that point - and most of the players in the 2006 season were long gone.
This shit takes time.

It was a special moment that anyone who saw it doesn't forget.
I think 2006 Tigers, I think '69 Mets - from the Mets perspective, not the Cubs.......
It was something that wasn't sustainable - it takes time - especially when you have nothing in house.
Took 5 years before they won the division - they didn't even win it in that magical season.
You don't seem to be looking at teams like the Yankees - who are literally the Warren Buffett of the MLB landscape.
Making the playoffs is a JOKE, they are supposed to win it all - no matter what it costs (because they are the Warren Buffett afterall).
1 WS title in the last 20 years - and that WS they still had 4 players that were the nucleus the team was built around from the off....
What is it you expect? 2006 to repeat itself? Good luck with that - even our kids will be fortunate to see that again in our lifetime.

TBH, the Tigers today aren't much better from a fanbase perspective than Minnesota.
People need to realize Detroit isn't the major player it used to be - when the population of the city alone when I was growing up was larger than the entire Kansas City Metro area today.
The entire Detroit metroplex now is barely bigger than the Minneapolis Metro area.......
I grew up in Detroit during the days when Detroit was one of the largest cities in the U.S. - now it's smaller than Indianapolis - by 20%......
If you'd have asked us if that was possible 50 years ago we'd have laughed in your face.

Wikipedia says Detroit is #12 with 5.2 million and Minneapolis is 15 with 3.6 million.
Deteoit shrank city wise but most just went to suburbs.
if you look at 1960 data where city was at its peak of 1.8 million I am sure the metro area is much smaller then the area today.
Deteoit area hasn’t really shrunk as much as others have just grew fast with people seeking sun.

For the short term, sure, you can do that.
For the long term, you can't be bleeding 36.4 million like they did in 2016.
That was only sustainable if they make up those losses from their other business ventures.

As long as there are enough guys like you willing to say, "this shit takes time" even when there is no real evidence that the 7 year rebuild is doing anything, Chris Ilitch doesn't have to do anything but collect the revenue checks. Just count on your blind faith in the Tiger farm system to produce everyday players in 3 or 4 more years.
