  • Not extending Tarik, especially with how this team has progressed would be absolutely stupid. Tigers are in a great place financially.
    Got Kneecaps?

    • Even if it IS a flash in the pan, that's fine. MOST teams are a flash in the pan. A good deal of these guys might not take the next step. For the sake of this particular season, THAT much isn't an issue.

That's the ride to enjoy. And we can absolutely do so AND have an eye looking forward. I don't know why that is hard to absorb.

      • All I can say is win or lose - they are finally playing the game I grew up playing.
Scrappy, putting pressure on the other team by taking the extra base.
Hinch has these guys playing a faster game, in an environment meant to speed up the game.

First time in a long time I've been able to say I'm proud of the way they play - and not just proud of a couple of guys.

        • Hinch has been amazing managing this team. He should be manager of the year for how much he has squeezed out of this roster. They have maybe two legitimate starter-caliber pitchers, and yet have one of the best staffs in the majors by any metric you can think of when it comes to results on the mound. And every juggle at the plate has been damn near perfect; putting every dude that walks up the best possible opportunity they can get to do something.

Had you taken this roster to your buddies in April and said, "This team isn't only going to make the playoffs, but it would be taking a 1-1 series into Detroit in the ALDS" you would have been laughed out of the room, if not taken to the hospital because they were certain you were OD'ing. He is getting everything anyone could hope to get out of these players, and they are (mostly) rewarding his decisions with just enough right when it is needed.

Skubal is represented by Boras. Probably costs 25 per for his final arbitration years. Then 30-32 per for each FA year.

            So like 110/4.
2012 Detroit Lions Draft: 1) Cordy Glenn G , 2) Brandon Taylor S, 3) Sean Spence olb, 4) Joe Adams WR/KR, 5) Matt McCants OT, 7a) B.J. Coleman QB 7b) Kewshan Martin WR

Okay. And? The Tigers are good for it, no matter what some certain unnamed owners might whimper.

              • As long as Skubal is represented by Boras he will go into free agency.

                • Got Fubo TV but they don't offer the CBS line of stations.
However, living in Texas I do get Unimas.

                  • Some things about the modern game I will never understand.
Ex. Veirling looking like he has his hand in a flounder while running the bases.

                    1-0 Detroit !!!

                      • They had a huge strike zone in the last game too - at least they are consistent.
They've called strikes on Carpenter in particular the last two games on pitches that were nowhere close.

                        Ooops? 2-0 Detroit !!!

Baserunners were getting their fingers screwed up on headfirst slides, specifically it was between the pinky finger and ring finger. Someone started taping those two together to avoid injury and that evolved into the oven mitts.

                          • Dickerson says it the biggest strike zone he has seen in a long time if ever. Jacked Jim Wolfe.

                            • Saw that RBI single that knocked in Rodgers for the 2nd run - Brooks would have had that and it wouldn't have even been a highlight reel swipe.
Don't know what that CLE 3B was doing there.

Only issue with the oven is what is touching the base and when? The mitt - or the fingers.
You'd think that would have been a hard sell.
