It would be nice if Carpenter could hit lefties, but so far he hasn't. When everyone is healthy his spot is DH or right field. Against lefties Malloy, Vierling, or Perez are clearly better options. Yesterday, Malloy was 2 for 3 before Carpenter pinch hit for him after Boyd left the game. AJ Hinch knows what he is doing.

The win was clutch...bringing the series home tied up 1-1. Saturday felt simply deflating. I think we all knew the game was over after the Indians went up 5-0 in the 1st. I do wonder why Hinch did not start Olson...but at this point it is water under the bridge. Skubal was lights out and we got the W.Got Kneecaps?

Tyler Holton has been their second best pitcher of the last two years. He has been good in the playoff chase as the opener, but he didn't have it Saturday.
The offense is not going to win 7-6 games this year. They have a bunch of rookies and getting this far is ahead of schedule. Some of it can be solved in the off-season. Some of it can be solved by time, when you have 13 rookies on the roster and half of them are hitters. Power generally comes later. Keith, Sweeney, Malloy and Meadows all have power but they are defined MLB hitters yet They have to win lunch and judy style until those things happen.

When you have 13 rookies, that means 5 more years of service time. This is the fruition of the rebuild, people 7 and 9 years ago wanted this but they were deluded into thinking it was only going to take until 2021. It's 2024 and we don't know if it is even a window, but enjoy the moment. It can't be every day bitching about Chris Ilitch. This shit is fun right now in the moment, that homer yesterday was amazing. This ride is probably going to end before the World Series but this is why we watch sports.

Which is part of the reason why I rag on this offense, because at some point in these playoffs, they're gonna need to win a game 7-6. Especially if they get to the seven-game series, stealing one even when the opener-long reliever method doesn't quite cook is going to be essential.Got Kneecaps?

I have not followed the Tigers much for the last 10 years or so. They were so dismal that there wasn't much point in wasting my time on them (kind of like the Pistons). And without a team worth rooting for, I had pretty much lost track of baseball. I feel that analytics has pretty much ruined the game, but it appears the MLB has made some changes to counteract that and have made the game more palatable to me. I am not even sure about all of the rule changes, but I like that the pace of the game has improved and they outlawed that stupid assed shift.
I guess there are things to bitch about with them but it is great to have competitive teams to pull for, even if they are flawed.
Life is too short. Sit back and take it all in and enjoy it. Who knows when or if you will see it again.
In other words, Quit harshing the buzz, Chemi. Jesus.
I feel like I am watching the destruction of our democracy while my neighbors and friends cheer it on

In the middle of the most magical run in most of our lifetimes, you've found a way to bitch about selling Skubal next year, ownership not paying their players in the upcoming years and our offense which anyone who knows anything about this team knows is their major flaw.
Sure, you're enjoying the fuck outta this, I'm positive.

1. The analytics revolution has made watching it different, there are so many times where instinctually I think the ball is a hit but the defender is perfectly placed. A hard hit grounder up the middle used to be a hit or the SS would make an amazing diving stop, now it is a routine out.
2. The thing to be jazzed about the Tigers run is we are finally seeing the farm system develop positional players. You no longer have to rely on TheKing posting fan graphs articles about these mythical players. You can see it with your own eyes now. Part of the need to spend big cash in the 2000s is they could only produce pitchers, there was a handful of good positional players (Avila, Granderson, Castellanos) but not nearly enough
3. Fraquar and I used to lament that they played in Comerica and they rarely had an athletic outfield. Defensively outside of 2006 was not very good Too often they played like a slow pitch softball team in a NL style park.
It remains to be seen if this is a flash in the pan or start of something good, but it sure beats watching a 47 to 70 win team.
