They needed at least one in Baltimore to really keep their chances alive. Now, if they can get two, that's gravy.

Yesterday got nuts. Thought it was over once the O's tied it and loaded up the bases. Tigers did not choke. We are Giants and Red Sox fans today...they have a double header against the twins. If all goes right today we could be up convincingly with a grip on that wild card....Got Kneecaps?

I'm still puzzled by the pitching moves in the ninth. On the broadcast it is reported that Holton is warming up. They somehow let Foley pitch to Gunnar Henderson, he knocks in two guys. Hinch comes out and when they come back in there, Brieske is on the mound and he is facing 3 lefties, they can't intentionally walk the first batter because Brieske might walk in the winning run. Somehow Brieske gets the last 6 outs. He has been getting better as the year goes on, but I'm pulling my hair out during those last two innings.
I'm not sure if Hinch was trying to save Holton or if he was going on his gut with Brieske.

I saw an interview by Hinch how he handles the pitching.
He is really micro managing the games.
He is kind of like Campbell is always talking about matchups.
If a batter is weak at hitting high fast balls he’ll bring in a pitcher who’s strength is throwing high heat.
It goes way above the righty lefty thing.

It sounds like they were trying to save Holton for the start today. It worked.
They are a 1/2 game back with the KC Royals (7 straight losses) and are a 1/2 game up in the Twins who play their second game today at 5:40.
Parker Meadows saved the game today taking away a 2 run dinger.Last edited by froot loops; September 22, 2024, 03:30 PM.
