Hill is a better defender and a natural CFer. He has stroke zone control issues too.He has legit SB speed (technique likely needs work though) I can see him swiping 20 bags a year. Hill probably is a place holder that is much better defensively than JJ, and will be cheaper. The Tigers might actually have a good defensive OF next year (Reyes, Hill and Cameron) offense might not be good but defensively that would be nice.
I just hope Hill doesn't go under .600 OPS ... history makes me think he might.

    • The Tigers have given up 52 runs in the last 5 games.

The astonishing part is that they managed to win one in that stretch.

                      • Gardenhire was way to good to be coach to be coaching double A ball.

I guess there are 9 AA teams in MLB then?

                          • Tigers will pick 3rd overall in the 2021 MLB Draft if they go by 2020 records. If MLB decides to do an average of the last couple seasons.... maybe 1st overall?
Kumar Rocker (who DESTROYED Michigan in the 2019 CWS) might be out of reach if picking at #3 ... but who knows... things can change in 9 months. Emerson Hancock was a top 2 guy at his point last year. Hancock was drafted #6 overall.
Vanderbilt has another elite pitcher in Jack Leiter that sounds intriguing.

23-35 season for the Tigers. Thought they could go 25-35.
Reyes and Candelario are decent pieces heading into 2021. Rest of the lineup needs some work. Perhaps some of the guys (Schoop, Romine, Cron) on 1 year contracts deserve a year 2. Pitching is wide open heading into next year.
It will be a significant offseason for Avila. New manger, ton of cap room (WILL Ilitch be willing to spend now or ever?), and young talent that probably needs another year or two.

                              • We'll have a definitive answer soon! For better or worse, Avilia has created ultimate cap flexibility:
                                https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/detroit-.../payroll/2021/

Forgot Willi Castro. He ended on a high note with a monster September. Reyes, Candelario, W Castro, and J Jones (if he can stay healthy, though his body seems to be made of glass).

It's controversial, but count me is as someone hoping the Tigers get AJ Hinch as their next manager. Michael Vick got a second chance in sports, f*** it.... go for the cheater Hinch!
