For a second I got defensive and was going to say he wasn't that bad. Then I realized you said Quinn and not Mayhew and you know what? I think you might be right. Millens big thing was he went from Below average, to worse, but kept it up much much longer. Quinn on the other hand had like one promising draft and even that really tapered out. He might really have been worse only looking better because their was a smaller record of shittyness.

Millen was way better than Quinn! At least Millen took some swings. Millen drafted actual talent, but he had some bad breaks. How do Charles Rogers, Roy Williams, Calvin Johnson, and Kevin Jones not end up forming a prolific offense? How is Teddy Lehman a complete bust? How does Kalimba Edwards not make an impact? Millen was too pompous and had bad luck ... but he was way better than Quinn.

Sorry, I don't think so. John Lynch also played football, and he's been very successful as the General Manager of the San Francisco 49ers since taking over early in 2017.

Unlike Millen, Lynch put in the work at being a GM, and the record of the 49ers since he took over speaks for itself.

The Lions made Millen an outside-the-box hire as team president and CEO in January 2001, and fired Lions offensive lineman and executive Larry Lee, along with draft expert Ron Hughes, who later went to the Pittsburgh Steelers and helped former Lions executive Kevin Colbert draft players like Ben Roethlisberger which helped the Steelers win their last 2 Super Bowls.

Millen then would eventually take over as general manager less than two years later in 2002, after firing executive director of player personnel Bill Tobin for what he said at the time were "philosophical reasons."

Tobin is currently a personnel executive with the Cinncinati Bengals, in which his son, Duke Tobin, is the team's director of player personnel. Luckily for us we have Brad Holmes and John Dorsey, but to think that we could've still have the Tobins to help this franchise out the last 2 decades would've made this team a whole lot better than our actual record has been since 2001.

Millen simply didn't know what the hell he was doing, didn't listen to anyone with sense, and that showed up in his 31-84 record, all the bad road losing streaks, and of course, the 0-16 season he left the franchise with while he was getting fired early in that awful season.

Quinn was bad but not Millen bad. Taylor Decker, Jonah Jackson, Frank Ragnow and Halapoulivaati Vaitai were all Quinn additions. So 4 out of 5 of this years starting highly touted line. Glasgow was drafted by Quinn too. So 5 out of 6 of the teams top lineman.
