Yeah. But these things are determined by humans as flawed as the people they're trying too. Judgements can be all over the place. Who knows anymore.

And i do agree on the "WHO" is being tried has more weight then it should. As anyone hoping the courts do anything Trump. I always say, why are you guys wasting your time?

NEWS Tom Brady in Talks to Become Limited Partner of Las Vegas Raiders

Tom Brady could be returning to the NFL, just not as a player. The recently retired quarterback is “deep in discussions” with Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis about becoming a limited team partner, ESPN reported on Friday.

The two sides have been discussing Brady’s potential involvement with the team for a couple of weeks. If Brady does become a limited partner, he will not have any control of the team’s business or football decisions. His investment in the team is reportedly “passive.”

This isn’t the first time Brady would join an ownership group led by Davis. In March, Brady announced he now owns a stake in the WNBA’s Las Vegas Aces, which is also primarily owned by Davis. If Davis and Brady reach an agreement, the former quarterback would still have to be vetted and approved by 24 of the league’s owners.

Brady’s 10-year, $375-million contract with Fox will reportedly not affect the deal, as the network has “blessed” the deal. NFL owners cannot hold positions at media companies that would affect broadcast rights negotiations. Brady won’t have that authority at Fox, allowing him to work there and owner a stake in the Raiders.

Brady’s interest in becoming part owner of an NFL team isn’t new. In 2021 and 2022, Brady had discussions with Miami Dolphins brass — owner Stephen Ross and vice chairman/limited partner Bruce Beal — about becoming a minority partner in the team.

However, a six-month investigation by the NFL found the Dolphins had violated tampering policies by talking to Brady. The Dolphins were stripped of their first-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft for illegal contact with Brady.

Brady has connections with some of the Raiders’ players, coaches and management staff. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo was Brady’s backup in New England. Head coach Josh McDaniels was Brady’s offensive coordinator from 2006 to 2008 and 2012 to 2019. General manager Dave Zeigler worked in the Patriots front office from 2013 to 2021.

Brady said he retired “for good” on Feb. 1 after 23 seasons in the NFL. His career resume includes seven Super Bowl wins, and he is the only player to win Super Bowl MVP for multiple franchises. He holds NFL records in major career passing categories, including passing yards, completions, touchdown passes and games started.

Odd that Brady may become a part owner of a team that he got the benefit of one of the worst calls in NFL history in the playoffs against......To this day the "tuck rule" is probably the dumbest thing I have ever seen in the NFL.

        • What’s next for Carson Wentz?

Posted by Mike Florio on May 14, 2023, 1:19 PM EDT

Last year, it felt like Carson Wentz‘s last chance as a starting quarterback in the NFL.

This year, Wentz continues to wait for an opportunity to even make a team.

Earlier today, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reported that Wentz has “received interest” and “might wait longer into the offseason to see what develops.”

Per the report, the second overall pick in the 2016 draft is “open to starter or backup roles.”

While we’ve yet to encounter a single player who isn’t open to a starting role, there’s no starting role open for Wentz — barring a rash of injuries or a polio outbreak in the quarterback room.

The mere fact that the “S” word crept into a slow Sunday quid pro quota report suggests that Wentz isn’t ready to accept his football fate. Which makes him a less-than-ideal fit to be someone else’s understudy.

Panthers coach Frank Reich, who coached Wentz in Philly and Indy, could have signed any veteran. Reich opted for Andy Dalton.

Wentz’s best play could be to stay ready and wait for injuries to happen. At some point, his phone might ring.

Others who could get a call instead include Matt Ryan, Teddy Bridgewater, Mason Rudolph, Joe Flacco, Nick Foles, Chase Daniel, and Josh Johnson, to name a few names of players not named Wentz.

          • Dolphins sign Isaiah Wynn

Free agent offensive tackle Isaiah Wynn is heading to Miami.

Wynn is signing a one-year contract with the Dolphins, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

The 27-year-old Wynn was a first-round pick of the Patriots in 2018 and has been a free agent since March after playing out his rookie contract.

Although he’s a talented offensive lineman, Wynn has struggled to stay healthy. He missed his entire rookie season after tearing an Achilles tendon in the preseason, and has missed significant playing time in all but one of his five NFL seasons.

Last year Wynn played in nine games, starting seven. This year the Dolphins will hope Wynn can compete for a starting job on their offensive line. And they’ll hope he can stay healthy.

Wynn was No. 49 on our list of the Top 100 free agents.

            • Just another hurdle...

Multiple short weeks could create various competitive issues in the NFC

Before the schedule was released, we explored whether the league’s new ability to schedule teams for two short-week, Sunday-to-Thursday games would become an indirect parity tool, making things harder for some of the best teams and, in turn, easier for some of the bad teams.

It didn’t really happen that way. The best teams from 2022 were largely exempt from the obligation to play with three days off in between games twice this year, with the following playoff teams from 2022 getting a pass from a pair of Sunday-Thursday turnarounds: Chiefs, Bills, Bengals, Jaguars, Chargers, Ravens, Dolphins, Eagles, Vikings, Buccaneers, Cowboys, Giants, and Seahawks.

Only one 2022 playoff team — the 49ers — will play twice on Thursday after playing on Sunday. Thus, to the extent this device could have been used to level things out a bit more in 2023, the league gave 13 of 14 playoff teams from 2022 a pass.

Seven teams will still play twice on Thursday after playing on Sunday. Six of them failed to make the playoffs in 2022. And five of them come from the NFC, where the chase for most of the playoff berths should be wide open this season.

Look at the NFC North. The Vikings (the only team from the division to make the playoffs last year) will get a real boost from the short-week scheduling. The other three teams in the division each have a pair of Thursday games. The Vikings have one, and it comes in Week Two, at a time when the Vikings can be fully prepared for the Eagles — and when the quick turnaround won’t have the same physical toll on the players that it would have later in the year.

Now, slide to the NFC South. It’s arguably the biggest tossup in football. And who won the jump ball when it came to the scheduling? Well, the Saints have two Sunday-Thursday experiences. The Falcons have not even one prime-time game. (They do play in London, like the Saints did a year ago.)

The Commanders, in the NFC East, were the only team to not make the playoffs in 2022 — and the only team to get two Sunday-Thursday packages.

The Steelers, one of two teams in the AFC North to miss the playoffs last year, also have a pair of Thursday night games after playing on Sunday.

It remains one of the strangest wrinkles in this year’s schedule. The league had the ability to compel any team to play twice on Thursday after playing on Sunday. And the league used that power for only one franchise that made the playoffs in 2022.

Of course, the league would say it’s a non-issue to play on Thursday after playing on Sunday. The teams would say otherwise, especially if they’ll be doing it more times than another team locked in the same competition for division titles, wild-card berths, and/or home-field advantage in the playoffs.

Think of it this way. Had the Detroit Lions played a 10 game season and a 2 game playoff... they would have had the exact same record after 10 games. And as hot as they were playing at that moment, they would have had a puncher's chance against any other team in that playoff.

The shorter the season, the more it can matter to just get hot at the right time.

Highly doubt it would happen, but if the Lions are in win-now mode… Trading for Quinnen Williams would be a big move idea. Lions are returning the same DTs from 2022 with the exception for Broderic Martin. Big trade idea reminiscent of when the Rams traded for Jalen Ramsey… or the Colts traded for DeForest Buckner.

That said, it would be a little foolish for the win-now mode Jets to trade their young defensive star IMO. I’m sure the Jets pay him.

                      • Will Anderson on position change: “Super excited” to do anything Texans need

Will Anderson’s rookie season with the Texans will involve a change in positions, but it’s not one that he or head coach DeMeco Ryans thinks will be a particularly difficult one for the third overall pick.

Anderson will be playing defensive end with his hand on the ground in Houston after mostly playing as a standup outside linebacker while at Alabama. Anderson said at the team’s rookie minicamp that he’s “had that experience” at the high school level and that he’s fired up for anything the Texans throw his way.

“I’m very excited, however they want to use me, it’s just going to be anything I kind of did at Alabama,” Anderson said, via the team’s website. “So I’m super excited, but just to do anything they need from me for the team.”

Ryans said it’s “not a huge position change” and the hope with the Texans will be that the tweak in how Anderson lines up helps set him up for a fast start to his NFL career.

It would be a huge gamble on 2023 and Goff for sure.
Do I think Goff with this offense and an ascending top 10-15 defense can win a Super Bowl? Absolutely. The assumption of adding Quinnen Williams would make the Lions defense THAT good.

My concern comes if Goff/Hooker isn’t a franchise QB long term. It’s going to be harder to acquire a new franchise QB with less future draft capital due to the hypothetical trade. Not a big deal if the Lions actually did well in 2023 though. That would be the goal!

Fair points, but I doubt Holmes/MCDC would hit the brakes and wait at this point. I'd think Williams is the type of guy they would've loved in Carter (if he was clean in terms of character)

As we saw with Aidan last year, sometimes its best just to let the players do what they did best in college.....Ryans is a great defensive coach though so he probably knows best how to use him.
