But the fact that the 49ers are considering moving on from after giving up so much, yeah that’s not great.
    Exactly. It’s a lottery ticket

Honestly id prefer trading up for Stroud or Levis at 6.

    • NFLPA says injury rates were significantly higher on artificial turf than grass in 2022

During the 2022 season, ESPN published data supplied by the NFL that purported to show that injury rates on grass and artificial turf were approximately the same. The NFL Players Association says that data was misleading, and that the NFL highlighted one outlier year’s worth of injury rates when the full body of research makes clear that players are injured more often on artificial turf.

According to the NFLPA, the NFL selectively released injury data from 2021 only, and 2021 happened to be an unusual year because injury rates on artificial turf and grass were very similar that year — although even in 2021, players were slightly more likely to be injured on turf. But in every other season besides 2021, the NFLPA says, injury rates were significantly higher on turf.

That includes the 2022 season, when injury rates on turf were as high as ever — and when the NFL didn’t make an effort to get those injury rates published by the media.

NFLPA President J.C. Tretter wrote on the NFLPA’s website that the injury data from the 2022 season makes clear that 2021 was a statistical outlier, and that in every other season for which there is injury data to compare grass and turf, grass has proven significantly safer.

“In short, last year, the gap – much like the NFL’s credibility with players on this issue – was as wide as it has ever been, proving that (as the NFLPA suspected) 2021 was in fact an outlier,” Tretter writes. “Now, 10 of the previous 11 years show the same exact thing — grass is a significantly safer surface than turf.”

Tretter said the players can’t trust the NFL when it would selectively release misleading data on players’ health and safety.

“The credibility the league has with the players on health and safety issues is virtually nonexistent,” Tretter writes. “Instead of following the long-term data (which is clear on this issue), listening to players and making the game safer, the NFL used an outlier year to engage in a PR campaign to convince everyone that the problem doesn’t actually exist.”

The union would prefer that every NFL stadium have a grass field, but it making little progress in convincing the league to take the issue seriously. In fact, this year one more stadium will have a turf field, as the Titans have announced that they’re replacing their grass with an artificial surface.

      • Fueled by Deion Sanders, Colorado sells out season tickets for first time since 1996

Deion Sanders is already delivering for the University of Colorado.

The Hall of Fame defensive back turned college football coach has helped his new program sell all season tickets for the first time in 27 years.

Via Brian Howell of the Boulder Daily Camera, the Buffaloes have sold out their season tickets for only the ninth time in program history. This is the first time it’s ever happened before August.

It previously happened in 1972, and then every year from 1990 through 1996.

Meanwhile, more than 45,000 fans are expected to attend this weekend’s spring game, give Brent Schrotenboer of USA Today. The game will be televised by ESPN.

The prior record for the Colorado spring game was 17,800.

That’s the good news for Colorado. The bad news is that it won’t be long before another fallen program looking to electrify the fan base comes calling for Sanders, with an offer he won’t be able to refuse.

        • Sam Howell on starting job: I am going to give this opportunity everything I have

The Commanders have made clear, even after signing veteran Jacoby Brissett, that the starting quarterback job is Sam Howell‘s to lose. The second-year player is QB1 at the start of the offseason program.

“That’s what I’ve been trying to do ever since I got here is get into this opportunity,” Howell told Julie Donaldson of the team website. “So, I’m definitely going to try to do everything I can to take advantage of it.”

Howell, once considered a first-round prospect, fell to the fifth-round last season. He played only one game, a Week 18 start against the Cowboys, saw action on 66 snaps and threw but 19 passes. It was enough to convince the Commanders to give Howell the first shot at the job for 2023.

“This organization is going to get everything I’ve got,” Howell said. “I’m just going to give this opportunity everything I have.”

Howell led the league in passing yards during the preseason, but he sat behind Carson Wentz and Taylor Heinicke for the first 17 weeks of the season. In the 26-6 win over the Cowboys in the season finale, Howell threw for 204 yards and a touchdown and ran for 35 yards and a touchdown.

“I just feel a lot better coming into this year, knowing that I learned a lot last year, and I know a lot of stuff now that I didn’t know then,” Howell said.

          • I like Howell. Liked him before the draft last year, was surprised he dropped as far as he did.

I am sure its the same for other positions but the worst that the QB draft is at the front, the worst everyone else stumbles. Everyone was measured against Pickett and he almost went into the second. It's like even the QB needy teams scratched QB's off the board because there wasn't a 1st round talent. Everyone else basically should be happy they were drafted. That said I felt Riddler and Howell were closer to Pickett then their draft positions suggested.

              • Howell reminds me of Baker Mayfield so just like Mayfield he can fuck right the hell off for screwing up our draft pick.

                • The Lions should've drafted Howell, no doubt. Would've been an ideal guy to have right now. Could prob get Matt Corral for much less, but I liked Howell better

                  • Who do you propose the Lions shouldn't have drafted to take Howell instead?

                    • Yeah, Howell went first pick in the 5th. Lions had no 4th or 5th round pick, They picked Kerby in the 3rd and Rodrigo and Houston in the 6th. I think it turned out ok.

Why? By all accounts I hear the team loves what he brought to the table last season, and is only going to get better.

That 2022 draft that Holmes had could quite possibly be looked back as one of the most incredible drafts in Detroit sports history short of the Red Wings haul in 1989.

The Tigers 1976 draft is pretty awesome they drafted 2 HOFers (Tram in the second and Jack Morris in the 5th), another key contributor (Petry in the 4th). Add in another credible major leaguer (Pat Underwood in the 1st) and 4 late round guys that were fringe major leaguers for a bit (Rod Booker, Kip Young , Glenn Gulliver and Roger Weaver. They also drafted Ozzie Smith in the 7th round but didn't sign him.
2012 Detroit Lions Draft: 1) Cordy Glenn G , 2) Brandon Taylor S, 3) Sean Spence olb, 4) Joe Adams WR/KR, 5) Matt McCants OT, 7a) B.J. Coleman QB 7b) Kewshan Martin WR
