Shooting form is much better nowadays, there are some things they could do temper three point shooting, but it's never going back to the way it was. Coaches back then were too stubborn to embrace the three, when they did have guys to shoot the three they didn't. Larry Bird should have shot 10 threes a game.

But on the bright side of it, teams that shoot the three most of the time have a balanced offense that isn't iso centric. Unless you have peak James Harden or current Luka Doncic.

Damar Hamlin toy drive fund exceeds $5.5 million

The numbers are going up and up, all the time.

The Damar Hamlin community toy drive, which began during the pandemic as a GoFundMe campaign aimed at raising $2,500, has now surpassed $5.5 million.

Significant donations have been made by Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford ($12,000), Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson and his wife, Ciara ($10,000), and Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady ($10,000).

The Commanders have given $5,000, and Raiders coach Josh McDaniels has donated $2,500. Jason and Devin McCourty have given $2,000 each.

Also, Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin announced on Tuesday that all proceeds from the sale of Damar Hamlin jerseys will be donated to Damar’s Chasing M’s Foundation. Via Sports Business Journal, Hamlin’s Bills No. 3 was the highest selling jersey on the Fanatics platform since last night, in any sport.

It really does feel like the NFL’s version of the final scene of It’s A Wonderful Life. Beyond the support that this money will provide to children who need it, it shows Damar Hamlin and his family that people care deeply about them.

So keep it going, NFL community — players, coaches, teams, owners, media, fans. Anyone. Everyone.

Latest On Damar Hamlin, Bills-Bengals

6:41pm: Hamlin is on a ventilator, according to the Syracuse Post-Standard’s Matt Parrino, who spoke with Hamlin’s uncle, Dorrian Glenn. However, it is believed Hamlin’s breathing is improving, CBS Sports’ Josina Anderson adds (Twitter links).

Hamlin needed to be resuscitated twice — once on the field and once after he arrived at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center — according to ESPN.com’s Coley Harvey, who also spoke with Glenn (Twitter link). Lung damage is a concern, per Harvey, but Glenn added (via Parrino) his nephew is only using 50% of the ventilator Tuesday. He needed 100% of the ventilator’s oxygen Monday. Hamlin remains sedated, Cameron Wolfe of NFL.com tweets.

Further updates to the situation will be provided as they become available.

9:01am: All attention around the NFL continues to be focused on the well-being of Bills safety Damar Hamlin after he went into cardiac arrest during last night’s game between the Bills and Bengals. The early hours of Tuesday morning provided further clarification on the way the incident was handled.


Hamlin, 24, received care on the field which included CPR after he collapsed immediately following a tackle made on Bengals wideout Tee Higgins. That, as noted by a team announcement, restored his heartbeat before he was ultimately loaded directly into an ambulance and taken to hospital. He has since been intubated and, as of the latest update, remains sedated and in critical condition.

The situation left the NFL, NFLPA, on-field officials and both teams in need of making a determination with respect to how to proceed (if at all) with the game. While the ESPN broadcast mentioned the potential of a five-minute warmup period being given to each squad before resuming the contest, NFL EVP Troy Vincent denied that such a scenario was ever in consideration.

“There was no time period for the players to get warmed up,” Vincent said on a conference call (Twitter link via NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo). “It never crossed our mind to talk about warming up to resume play. That’s ridiculous. That’s insensitive. That’s not a place we should ever be in.”

Indeed, the contest was temporarily suspended, and later postponed in the wake of Hamlin’s uncertain condition. After a number of players and staff members from both teams visited the hospital where he is receiving treatment, it was initially reported that some Bills players would remain in Cincinnati instead of returning home. Further clarification from Jay Skurski of the Buffalo News confirms, however, that the team has traveled in full back to Buffalo (Twitter link).

As they and the rest of the NFL await further updates on Hamlin’s status, the matter of potentially resuming the game has been brought up. On the aforementioned conference call, NFL EVP of communications Jeff Miller said (via the Ringer’s Lindsay Jones, on Twitter) that that is “not a consideration right now.” While such a stance is certainly understandable in the aftermath of last night’s frightening events, the Buffalo-Cincinnati contest carries significant playoff implications for both teams. The situation is further complicated by the relation of its outcome to other AFC games set to be played this Sunday as the regular season is scheduled to come to a close.

I don't want to sound insensitive, but I have 8 leagues and have wrapped up winning a bunch of money, but they will only pay AFTER the conclusion of week 17. But week 17 can't conclude until this game does.

Sad and very confusing situation.

Bears agree to one-year extension with Equanimeous St. Brown

The Bears will keep one of their receivers around for next season.

According to Kevin Fishbain of TheAthletic.com, the Bears have agreed to a one-year contract extension with Equanimeous St. Brown.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media adds the deal is worth $1.25 million.

St. Brown has started 15 games for the Bears this season, recording 20 catches for 320 yards with one touchdown. He’s also rushed six times for 54 yards.

St. Brown is third on the team in receiving yards.

Originally a sixth-round pick of the Packers in 2018, St. Brown has 57 receptions for 863 yards with two TDs in 52 games with 25 starts.

Bills: Damar Hamlin has made “remarkable improvement” in past 24 hours

The Bills issued an update on safety Damar Hamlin‘s condition on Thursday morning.

In a statement, the team says that Hamlin continues to make progress in his recovery from the effects of going into cardiac arrest on the field during this week’s game against the Bengals.

“Per the physicians caring for Damar Hamlin at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, Damar has shown remarkable improvement over the past 24 hours,” the statement said. “While still critically ill, he has demonstrated that he appears to be neurologically intact. His lungs continue to heal and he is making steady progress. We are grateful for the love and support we have received.”

Hamlin’s agents also released a statement calling his improvement “substantial” and offering further thanks to medical personnel for their work and to those who have offered support to Hamlin over the last few days.

NFL won’t resume Bills-Bengals game

It’s official. Almost.

We’ve heard since last night that signs are pointing to an official announcement that the Week 17 Bills-Bengals game won’t resume. Earlier this afternoon, we explained that the game most likely won’t continue, and that the league was otherwise trying to determine playoff seeding, given that the Bills and Bengals will finish the season with only 16 games each.

Rob Maaddi of the Associated Press now reports that the Bills-Bengals game will not continue. This seems to be a precursor to an official announcement, which likely will come today.

The NFL Players Association has scheduled a press briefing for 4:00 p.m. ET, regarding the Damar Hamlin situation.

There is no firm reporting on what the league will do regarding AFC playoff seeding. Various possibilities have been mentioned and discussed. There is no perfect option.

Damar Hamlin able to communicate in writing, asked doctors who won on Monday

Doctors from the University of Cincinnati Medical Center updated the condition of Bills safety Damar Hamlin in a video conference on Thursday and said that Hamlin has made “substantial improvement” since suffering cardiac arrest on the field during Monday’s game against the Bengals.

One sign of that improvement involves his neurological functioning. A statement from the Bills earlier in the day said that doctors felt Hamlin’s neurological functioning is intact and the doctors who spoke to reporters on Thursday afternoon gave an example of that.

Hamlin cannot speak because he is still intubated, but he is able to follow commands and write to doctors to respond to questions. He has also asked some questions, including a query about whether the Bills won the game against the Bengals.

“Yes, you won the game of life,” was the response.

Doctors said that the quick response of the Bills training staff and the other medical personnel on hand at Paycor Stadium are to thank for Hamlin’s condition because the administration of CPR and other lifesaving maneuvers made a positive outcome possible.

The doctors stressed that there is still a lot of steps left in Hamlin’s recovery, but the ones he has taken already will make a lot of people feel a lot better than they have over the last few days.
