Love the trade for the Titans. Henry + Julio + AJ Brown. Win-now mode for the next couple of seasons.
That will probably be a late 2nd RD pick. Not a big deal.
If the Titans actually hit on the risky Caleb Farley pick... watch out.

Remember when the Patriots traded a 2nd RD pick for Mohamed Sanu? Oof.

I wasnt ever thinking they'd get a 1st but a 2nd is a good haul for Jones right now. I don't think he'll be healthy but GB should have pushed all of the chip in.

He sucked last year, he completed a Mike McMahon-like 52 percent. He sucked.

Lamar Jackson looked like Mike McMahon throwing the ball his rookie year.. His completion rate was in the 50’s as well. Hurts also didn’t have any real off season programs to prepare him for his rookie year with COVID.

Im certainly not saying he’s going to be some all pro QB but he’s certainly got far more upside than McMahon ever did

              • Fine by me. I don’t like Philly so they can lose’em all with Hurts throwing 5% completion rates

                • Hurts' rookie year is more comparable to Tebow. Shaky throwing ability, but can do some nice things running the ball. That's how Hurts was benched for Tua in college. Not saying Hurts will end up like Tebow.... We'll find out during the 2021 season. Eagles are giving Hurts a chance. If it doesn't work out? At least the Eagles tanked.

I'm eying Jalen Hurts for fantasy football regardless. He has some potential with his running ability IMO. Sneaky fantasy pick with high risk, high reward.

                  • They say Tebow was terrible with the playbook and reading defenses. This is just what I heard out of Denver was that they had to have a paper thin playbook as he had a hard time with the complex nuances of the NFL

                    • Titans restructure Ryan Tannehill’s contract

The Titans gave Ryan Tannehill a new target over the weekend and they are reworking the quarterback’s contract to fit Julio Jones under the salary cap.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the team has restructured Tannehill’s contract. He was set to make a salary of $24.5 million this season, but converting a portion of that to a signing bonus created more than $15 million in cap space for this season.

Jones has a fully guaranteed salary of $15.3 million and there was no adjustment to his contract as part of the trade that sent him from the Falcons to the Titans.

Tannehill is under contract through the 2023 season. His $29 million salary for 2022 is guaranteed while his $27 million salary for the final year of the pact is not.

                      • Former Giants head coach Jim Fassel dies at 71

Former New York Giants head coach Jim Fassel has died at the age of 71.

According to Sam Farmer of the Los Angeles Times, Dallas Cowboys special teams coordinator John Fassel, Jim’s son, confirmed his father’s passing.

Fassel experienced chest pains Monday and was taken to a hospital before having a heart attack while under sedation.

Fassel was head coach of the Giants from 1997-2003 and led the franchise to an appearance in Super Bowl XXXV against the Baltimore Ravens. Fassel spent 16 years as a coach in the NFL with stints as an offensive coordinator for the Giants, Denver Broncos, Arizona Cardinals and Ravens. He last coached in the NFL in 2006 with Baltimore and spent four years as a head coach of the Las Vegas Locomotives of the United Football League from 2009-2012.

Fassel also briefly played in the NFL after being drafted in the seventh round as a quarterback out of Long Beach State in 1972. He spent time with the Bears, San Diego Chargers and Houston Oilers before playing a season in the Canadian Football League for the Toronto Argonauts and parts of two seasons with The Hawaiians of the World Football League.

The Locomotives won two of the three contested UFL championships and lost in the title game the third year to the Virginia Destroyers. The Giants made the playoffs in three of Fassel’s seven seasons as head coach with the trip to the Super Bowl in 2000 being the only time the team advanced beyond the Wild Card weekend.

Fassel was named the NFL’s coach of the year in 1997 in leading the Giants to a 10-5-1 record and a playoff berth in his first season as head coach.

                        • Left tackle Jonah Williams wants to prove Bengals right

Posted by Charean Williams on June 7, 2021, 10:06 PM EDT

                          Getty Images

The Bengals didn’t sign a starting left tackle in free agency. They didn’t draft one, passing on Penei Sewell. That leaves incumbent Jonah Williams, a former first-round choice.

Bengals coach Zac Taylor has expressed his confidence in Williams.

“That means a lot to me,” Williams said, via Tyler Dragon of the Cincinnati Enquirer. “I really appreciate that from coach. I take that very seriously, and I want to prove them right and prove the team right and do what it takes to be a great left tackle.”

Since he became the 11th overall choice in 2019, Williams has played only 10 games while missing 22. He missed his entire rookie season with a shoulder injury and ended last season on injured reserve with a right knee injury.

“He had some really good tape from last season,” Taylor said. “Obviously, he’s had his ups and downs from an injury standpoint that have prevented from really taking off. When you just go back and after the season you watch it, as a whole — all of his snaps — he put some really good stuff on tape. He doesn’t even have a full season of 16 games under his belt, so I think we’re going to continue to see steady improvement working under [offensive line coach] Frank [Pollack]. He’s a really smart player, and I think he can really take his game to the next level, and I’m excited to see what he can do.”

So while the Bengals might have new offensive line starters in right tackle Riley Reiff and rookie right guard Jackson Carman, left tackle remains unchanged.

                              • Browns staffer Callie Brownson pleads guilty to operating a vehicle under the influence

Posted by Michael David Smith on June 9, 2021, 7:26 AM EDT

Browns chief of staff Callie Brownson has pleaded guilty to operating a vehicle under the influence in an agreement that will allow her to avoid jail time.

Brownson entered the guilty plea on Tuesday, the same day news broke that she had been arrested on May 27.

According to Cleveland.com, Brownson had two other charges dismissed: one for speeding and one for a blood-alcohol level above .17. Brownson paid $780 in court costs and fines, and accrued six points on her drivers license, which has been suspended. She will not go to jail.

Brownson was pulled over for driving 55 mph in a 35 mph zone at 12:27 a.m. Her blood-alcohol content was .2150, nearly three times the legal limit.

The Browns say they “will take the appropriate disciplinary actions.” Brownson could also face league discipline.

Brownson coached the Browns’ tight ends in one game last year and their wide receivers in another game after other assistant coaches had to miss the games because of COVID-19. That made her the first woman to serve as a primary position coach in an NFL game.
