Gruden. Said it before, he's a guy you could have a few beers with, but he doesn't know how to build a team. Never has. Never will. He won with Dungy's team over his team.
Trickalicious - I don't think it is fair that the division rivals get to play the Lions twice. The Lions NEVER get to play the Lions, let alone twice.

    • The Bears offered 3 1st rounders and 2 starters for Wilson. That’s a helluva offer. If I were Seattle I would have taken that

      • The Bears don't have high picks, though. So SEA would be without a QB with no real way to obtain one.

        • That's maybe a good long term trade but not for Pete Carroll. They are in a win now mode and probably should be although they may be one year from tearing it down mode.

          • As far as Cam Newton is concerned his contract is set up to where he could be the backup if it came to it. I'd expect them to draft someone if it works out so they can.

If they can't though I'd expect Cam to do better in year 2. He'll have a lot more to throw to and he was actually effective on the ground and did total an OK amount of TD's combined with no weapons. Don't see him necessarily jumping back to old mvp caliber Cam but I think they could win with him for sure especially getting some stars back on defense.

My two cents with Russell Wilson is that it's similar to Rodgers in that he's unlikely to actually get moved and it's a powerplay for influence where Rodgers' is a powerplay for security.

            • Cam is done unless he undergoes a shoulder transplant.

They are in no mans land.
Good enough to get to the playoffs - not good enough to make a run.
This is one of those scenarios where if you don't have a 70 Y/O HC who has actually won something you probably tear that team down - get what you can for it and start the rebuild.

                  • The one thing you have if you are in no man's land is a punchers chance with a great draft. It's not much to hang your hat on but I'm sure they think they are only one draft away.

                    • They didn't quite double the deal, but they will be getting 80 percent more money. So this thing with the salary cap is a momentary blip. Early models have the salary cap at a out $250-260 million in the mid-2020s.

                            • Chad Forbes shreds Giants after Kenny Golladay signing: They're a laughingstock

                              https://giantswire.usatoday.com/2021...aughing-stock/

Chad Forbes of NFL Draft Bites, who is a regular on national radio and league-related podcasts, grew up as a fan of the New York Giants.

On Saturday however, Forbes appeared to turn in his fan card when he unloaded on the Giants for their signing of free agent wide receiver Kenny Golladay, calling it a “humbling moment” for co-owners John Mara and Steve Tisch.

Forbes continued in his unprovoked rant, calling the Giants a “laughingstock.”

Forbes must have missed the memo that Golladay was offered both a one-year deal and multi-year from the Giants, eventually choosing the latter.

The notion that the Giants “overpaid” is also subjective. While the Golladay contract is certainly on the high end of the spectrum, it’s only going to seem expensive in 2021. When the cap levels off in 2022 and then explodes in 2023, Golladay’s contractual value will quickly diminish in comparison to the reset market value.

As a result, landing Golladay to a four-year deal in 2021 will only serve to benefit the Giants later, assuming Golladay can remain healthy.

The irony of Forbes’ rant is that it comes on the heels of a Mike Glennon signing he also criticized. Why, you ask? Because in his view, the Giants should have shelled out much more money for a backup quarterback who could compete with Daniel Jones — an area of need that doesn’t exist in the real world.

Spent a ton of money on a backup quarterback but not a WR1. Makes sense.

Forbes then tried to argue that the offensive line is now worse than it was when general manager Dave Gettleman took over. That line featured Ereck Flowers at left tackle, Bobby Hart at right tackle, John Jerry at guard and a consistently injured Justin Pugh bouncing around from position to position.

The Giants certainly have their problems along the offensive line, but the notion that they’d be better off with Flowers, Jerry and Hart is material for a Bill Burr special.

Being a miserable Giants fan has become an identity for many. It’s going to be a struggle to let go of that when Jones finds success and the team begins winning… These naysayers will have to admit they’re wrong and choking down that pill is not going to be easy.

                              • Daniel Jones is terrible. I never saw anything with him in college that screamed “1st round pick!”
