When you get too close to winning that you put in Nate Sudfeld and justify it by saying you wanted to see what they had is far, far worse than a playoff team resting it's starters. I don't like the latter but the former is ridiculous. For such a grand plan he had absolutely no buy in from his players, I wonder even if Nate Sudfeld thought it was a good idea.

I respect the Lions and specifically Matt Stafford for going and trying to win, knowing the refs would screw them over.

How is it any different than teams like the Steelers who sit players in week 17 to rest up for the playoffs? They didn't put their best foot forward. I actually buy what Pederson did ... evaluate your backup QB to be for next season. Wentz already begged out, Hurts isn't a sure thing ... see what you have in Sudfeld. I doubt he said go out there and suck. Gravy that it improved the draft pick

I agree. There's enough rules on top of rules in the NFL. The worst thing in sports is the fu(king lotteries. Just ask the Red Wings and Pistons. If a team wants to tank, especially in a COVID year, who cares.

Okay, back story. HOU actually wanted Caserio a year or two ago but Belicheck and NE made a big fuss about tampering and HOU backed off. NE tried to keep him by giving him a new title and a raise but apparently it was not enough. When HOU failed to get Caserio they just let O'Brien do both jobs.

Colbert was with the Lions from 1990-2000, canned by Millen. He was Director of Pro Personnel.

Colbert quietly left a few months to go to the Steelers before they hired Millen, Ron Hughes was the one who was fired.
