The Athletic's Aaron Reiss reports the Packers are "among the teams to inquire about" the availability of Will Fuller.


Reiss adds that "no deal is imminent," and the Texans aren't interested in a fire sale and "won't trade just to trade." Fuller is in the final year of his rookie deal and obviously needs a new contract after this season. Houston may not be willing to pay him the kind of money he's seeking, so trading him ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline could be their best move to get compensation back in return. Fuller is a top-20 NFL wideout when healthy. Pairing him with Davante Adams and Aaron Rodgers would be really fun.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick said he "doesn't know anything" about Stephon Gilmore trade rumors.


This conflicts with reports the Patriots are shopping Gilmore. New England gave Gilmore a $5 million raise last month, but he's had a down year and spent time on the COVID-19 list. The Patriots (2-4) could end up sellers at this year's trade deadline.

Aaron Rodgers says it’s “absolutely crazy” if Mike Zimmer is on the hot seat

Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been squaring off with Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer for years, and Rodgers says that’s a tough challenge.

So when Rodgers was asked about talk that Zimmer could be fired as a result of the Vikings’ highly disappointing 2020 season, he was surprised.

Rodgers told reporters today that he thinks it’s “absolutely crazy” that anyone could think Zimmer might be out of work soon. Rodgers said he considers Zimmer one of the best coaches in the NFL.

In his seventh season with the Vikings, Zimmer is 58-43-1 in the regular season and 2-3 in the playoffs. But he’s 1-5 this year, and if things do not improve over the course of this season, he may not be back next season. Whether Rodgers thinks that is “absolutely crazy” or not.

Seahawks did due diligence on Antonio Brown, declined to pursue

A week ago, the Seahawks seemed to be the leading contenders to land receiver Antonio Brown. Ultimately, they didn’t.

Per a league source, the Seahawks performed their due diligence on Brown, doing all the homework and checking all the boxes necessary to evaluate whether Brown should be added to the roster. The Seahawks decided based on their efforts that they weren’t comfortable adding Brown to the team.

They nevertheless had to navigate the fact that quarterback Russell Wilson wanted Brown on the roster. As previously speculated, the Seahawks quite possibly acknowledged interest in Brown publicly both to placate Wilson and to ensure that someone else would swoop in and get him.

That’s what the Buccaneers did, helping the Seahawks avoid a potentially awkward moment with their franchise quarterback.

Report: Patriots will listen to offers for “almost anyone”

Patriots coach Bill Belichick is a master of motivation. He may have found a new way to motivate his players.

Albert Breer of SI.com reported today that the Patriots will listen to trade offers for “almost anyone” on the roster.

First, almost any team would listen to offers for almost anyone on the roster, because only a small handful of players are truly untouchable when it comes to a trade. The Patriots currently have no such players who would be never on the market. So it’s not really necessary for any coach to make it known that few if any offers would be ignored.

Second, while the official trade deadline doesn’t arrive until Tuesday, the practical deadline has come and gone, as to any teams that hope to have their new players to fully participate in practice in advance of a Week Nine debut. Other than the Browns, Bengals, Rams, and Eagles, each of whom have byes in Week Nine, every other team presumably would have done a deal by now, if they were going to do one.

So maybe Belichick is letting the word of a willingness to listen to offers for “almost anyone” to ensure that he sends a message to everyone that what has happened this year is unacceptable. While some may welcome an opportunity to join a contender, most Patriots players have been indoctrinated into the Patriot Way, and they’d potentially respond to the message that the coach is willing to dump any, some, or all of them by stepping it up.

Coincidentally or not, Breer’s article opens with the extended tale of how a 2019 deadline deal for receiver Mohamed Sanu, shipped from the lowly Falcons to the contending Patriots, completely derailed his career. The morale of the story is that getting traded may not be a good thing, and the Patriots quite possibly are using the threat of a trade between Sunday and Tuesday as a way to get the absolute maximum from their current players given that a critical game is coming up on Sunday in Buffalo.

George Kittle may be out for season with foot injury

The injury news for the 49ers keeps getting worse.

All-Pro tight end George Kittle has a fracture in his foot and will miss extended time, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

It’s unclear whether Kittle will be able to return this season.

Although the 49ers are 4-4 and still in playoff contention, injuries are piling up, and Kittle is one of their most important players. It’s hard to see San Francisco remaining in contention down the stretch, and that my make the 49ers decide not to risk putting Kittle back on the field late in the season, even if he’s ready.

It’s hard to be optimistic about the 49ers right now.

Titans hope someone will claim Vic Beasley on waivers

The Titans are moving on from defensive end Vic Beasley. They haven’t done it yet. And for good reason.

The delay traces to one simple reality of the NFL calendar. As of today, the first day after the trading deadline, every player released by a team must pass through waivers. Thus, instead of Beasley becoming a free agent — and in turn eligible to collect the balance of his $3.5 million base salary as termination pay — his contract will be exposed to the ability of every other team to call dibs on it.

If only one team makes a claim for the contract, the Titans will avoid the $1.85 million balance of his base salary.

That doesn’t change the fact that the contract was a huge mistake for the Titans. The one-year, $9.5 million deal included a $6 million signing bonus — some of which may have been forfeited based on Beasley’s unexcused failure to report for camp on time.

Still, the Titans got zero sacks and zero quarterback hits in seven games from Beasley, and now they hope that a one-day delay will result in a cash and cap savings of $1.85 million.

Bears will release Ted Ginn

Wide receiver Ted Ginn‘s time with the Bears has come to an end.

PFT has learned, via a league source, that the Bears are releasing the veteran on Wednesday.

Ginn signed a one-year deal with the Bears in May and appeared in six games with the team this season. He did not play in last Sunday’s overtime loss to the Saints and only played 32 snaps in the previous four games.

Ginn had three catches for 40 yards and returned five punts for 24 yards when he was in the lineup.

This is Ginn’s 14th NFL season and he’s also played for Dolphins, Saints, 49ers, Panthers, and Cardinals. We’ll see if he adds to that list or if this is the end of the line for him in the NFL.
