Honestly I'd say it's 50/50 right now. If cases start rising towards September those odds get worse for having a season.
      They're open now though?

Just watched the original Brian Piccolo movie, “Brian’s Song” on YouTube. My God, I thought I was tougher than that....... feckin tears! That’s sad stuff.

(Please do edit if too political for the NFL Thread , Deborah) ..... but American and the entire world needs to be more like Piccolo & Sayers.

        RIP Brian Piccolo

The all mighty dollar suggests there is no way they won't be playing.
I long for a Lions team that is consistently competitive.

You could say the same about college football, yet they are already shutting down entire programs and it's looking increasingly like that's not going to happen, either.

The NFL assuredly WANTS to, and they are going to do everything in their power. But there's simply going to be too much pressure to shut it down, especially if the pandemic starts spiking again.

How is the EPL working then?

We haven't beaten the virus. I get smaller rosters etc...

The EPL only has about 6 more fixtures, right? That something like 15% of the season, if I remember rightly.

It'd be a little bit different if this pandemic started raging during the summer transfer window.

Hey Marko69 , watch “Something for Joey” another 1970’s based football TV movie. Do you think Brian piccolo was a sad movie—- you’ll be crying buckets after you watch this one.

The EPL will be back around the same time as the NFL.

They aren't going to play this season and then just not play next season.

Dan, thanks for the recommendation buddy, but ...... must say....... I do not seek out sad stuff. Was interested in that Piccolo story that Future posted, ..... love James Caan so decided to watch the 1970s version (jaadam, 70s) ..... was taken aback at how sad it was.

Nothing worse watching The Lion King with 8 year old granddaughter and her saying:
                            ”Gran, Papa is crying!” 🤦‍♂️

Fk off, Jaadam, that’s sad shit. Poor Simba. Devastated.

Point I'm trying to make is that there's a bit stronger impetus to finish something that already started, than it is to start something up. It's kinda the same reason why there's a lot less hand-wringing involving the NBA and NHL resuming their seasons.

Not saying that it's right (because it's not)... but that the psychology is different. The NFL isn't getting the same leeway, and neither is MLB, for that matter... even though arguably they have venues that would be less problematic to play in (due to outdoor facilities rather than exclusively indoor).

I hear you bro but money talks. The EPL, the NFL - they all have broadcast partners. And they need mouths to feed for their billions. Also the NFL is so fundamental to the American experience I would be stunned if they didn't run it.

Wasn't Brady brought on a few days after 9/11 when the Jets LB wiped out Bledsoe?

Brett Favre was in Oakland the same day his dad died on MNF. It's part of the Gladiator, warrior ethos of the NFL.
