  • I like that Bruce Arians called vets out on that.

    • Dang, Bears wised up and didn’t sell the farm for Wentz.

      Wentz in Indy.
Perfect environment for Wentz to bounce back. Now or never.

Eagles agree to trade Carson Wentz to Colts

Carson Wentz is heading to Indianapolis.

The Eagles have agreed to trade the 2016 No. 2 overall pick to the Colts, according to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen. Philadelphia will receive a 2021 third-round pick and a conditional 2022 second-round pick that could turn into a first-round pick.

The Colts were the natural destination for Wentz, who has familiarity with head coach Frank Reich from their shared time in Philadelphia. Reich was Wentz’s offensive coordinator for the first two years of his career from 2016-2017.

For the Eagles, the compensation is not as grand as the “Matthew Stafford package” they reportedly desired. But NFL Media’s Mike Garafolo reports the conditional pick will become a first-round selection if Wentz plays 75 percent of the Colts’ offensive snaps, or 70 percent of the snaps and the team makes the playoffs.

That means if Wentz is not performing well by midseason, Indianapolis would have a strong incentive to bench him.

Still the trade represents a fresh start for a quarterback who was at one point an MVP candidate, but in 2020 ended up riding the pine in Philadelphia.
Trickalicious - I don't think it is fair that the division rivals get to play the Lions twice. The Lions NEVER get to play the Lions, let alone twice.

I do too. It takes a lot to have 53 guys going fast within what they are supposed to be doing at all times. The vets have years to be indoctrinated and they crap on the rookies because they know with proper training their jobs could be on the line.

            • Report: Broncos interested in trading for a top-tier quarterback, not Carson Wentz

The Broncos are open to making a big deal if they can upgrade at quarterback. But they don’t necessarily think all the big-name quarterbacks available are upgrades from Drew Lock.

Specifically, the Broncos are not interested in Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz, according to James Palmer of NFL Network.

Palmer confirmed the report that the Broncos will pursue Deshaun Watson if the Texans are willing to trade him, and noted that the Broncos were interested in Matthew Stafford before the Lions agreed to trade him to the Rams. So Lock’s job is not necessarily safe.

But it’s only the top tier of starters whom the Broncos see as a clear upgrade from Lock. Wentz isn’t in that tier.

              • Wentz is terrible. I guess Indy takes the shot on him with Reich there. That's a lot of $ to absorb for Indy, but they need a longterm guy there. I don't think Wentz is that guy, but whatever.

                • That 2nd turns into a 1st if Wentz plays 75% or the snaps or if he plays 70% of the snaps and Indy makes the playoffs.

                  • Wentz isn’t total trash imo. That said, I don’t know what happened to him. He was the best QB in the NFL one year.

                    • Wentz was trash last season. Played like a MVP in 2017.
Who knows... if Ryan Tannehill can flip his career in Tennessee, I wouldn’t write off Wentz yet.

BPA. Take a QB if they like one. If not, give Hurts a year to showcase his value.

2020 NFL rookie report card: Ranking each team's class, 1 to 32

                          Feb 17, 2021

Which NFL team had the best rookie class in 2020? The worst? Gennaro Filice and Nick Shook rank every single group, from No. 1 to No. 32.

4 starters (Okudah, Swift, Jackson, Penisini) with two - three others (Okwara, Cephus, and Stenberg) that should be heavily leaned on this year. This guy just hasn't did much in-depth analysis. I get it, the Lions being a NFL jobber team and all, but it still sux. That isn't a C- draft and some of the teams he has better grades on aren't all that either. PHI, ARZ, NO (They literally have 1 guy that MAY start this year and they put them 5 spots higher), NYG, PIT, SEA, JAX and CHI all had worse drafts. This isn't to say ours was great, just that it was better. It's more of an indictment of those teams and this writer.
Uhh, when your #3 overall pick is a complete bust for the year, you aren't gong to get a good draft grade. I think C- is being pretty generous and acknowledges the better than average contributions from the lower round selections.

                          • Now that Wentz is officially gone, I think Philly is very much in the mix to draft a QB early. More so than the Lions, I think. Hurts had some decent moments last season, but not enough to go all in on (if they like someone more). Plus, he was only a 2nd rd pick, so the optics of picking another QB early isn’t as bad (not that it matters).

                            • That’s a great trade for both teams. Indy has a lot of
upside with Wentz as they were stuck with Brisset or
some other scrub and they didn’t give up much.

It's a first. They can just urn and hand it off for 60% of those plays.

He was bad bad. He would just lock onto A receiver and his TEs. He had one of the best RBs in the league at his disposal and would almost totally ignore him. I know because I had Miles as my RB and when Wentz wasn't the QB his usage and effectiveness would double. If he continues to do that he will be holding clipboards in a year.

I think he and that Philly offense looked good until the league figured them out. Then it was curtains when they didn't have anymore change ups.

The one thing I will give him a mulligan for is that their WR corps were decimated.

Uhhh that's one selection and while it should play a part in the ranking, it can't be enough to drop the whole class a whole grade.

If that's the case, why is NO graded 5 spots higher and they have one guy that that barely played and the rest are way worse then our guys? It's BS. I didn't care very much for Quinn. But even he isn't that bad. He AND FMP? Yeah, that's turible
