  • Agreed but 35 mil guaranteed for a team that won’t make the playoffs next year is crazy. TB batted well above their weight last season.

They’ll be in a rebuild soon enough
    F#*K OHIO!!!

    • That’s a big matzo ball.

The Broncos announced Monday that they have informed quarterback Russell Wilson he will be released after the 2024 league year begins March 13 at 4 p.m. ET.

WHat is Baker mayfield's status? Is he unrestricted FA?

        • Tampa has been to the playoffs four straight years, won the division three straight years. They gave the Lions all they could handle and they are in decent shape cap wise. Mike Evans was great last year. That extension is the cost of business in the NFL and nothing about that team indicates they need to rebuild.

          • I like Evans but that is steep. I thought I heard he had a lot of drops last season too. I wanted the Lions to make a play for him at the deadline but I’m okay with looking elsewhere.

            • Most of these contracts are going to look steep. Remember my #1 rule about free agency, you always pay more than you think. That rule is even truer for the next couple years, with the way the cap is going far over projections. Having a receiver that is a matchup problem that can get 1200 yards and 12 TDs is going to come at a steep price.

There has been nearly 30 years of the league having the salary cap is teams are much smarter with their money and the lot of money grows at a pace that outstrips the available players. In other words, you might think the price is too high for Evans, but if you let him walk, you might be spending just as much on an inferior player.

              • From the Ringer. A nice summary of the current Sneed situation:

                • I think I'd rather have Gilmore (if we can get him) without giving up compensation than to give up a first for Sneed. I'd probably send our 2nd, though.

I trust Holmes to make a better decision than me, though

CJGJ said it right, TB has all the weapons with no QB. Baker did a nice job but he's wasting those playmakers and a really tough defense. TB can tout the playoffs 4 straight years because Tom Brady made it happen and that division last year was putrid.

                    • The division hasn't changed. Again, they gave the Lions all they could handle in tbe playoffs. They have a great tackle and a two great DTs. Not everything has to be a tear down rebuild.

                      • Not earth shaking, but Lions reported as having interest in trading for Sneed with a handful of other teams:

The Kansas City Chiefs have received interest from several teams regarding the availability of cornerback L'Jarius Sneed, sources told USA Today's Tyler Dragon. The Atlanta Falcons, Detroit Lions, Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, Minnesota Vikings, New England Patriots, and Tennessee Titans are among the teams to express interest. The Chiefs placed the non-exclusive franchise tag on Sneed and granted the 27-year-old permission to seek a trade. Kansas City general manager Brett Veach said the team was hopeful that it could retain both Sneed and defensive tackle Chris Jones. However, Jones is set to become an unrestricted free agent at the start of the new league year on March 13.The two-time Super Bowl winner is aiming to land a new deal after a stellar campaign in 2023. Sneed didn't surrender a touchdown as the closest defender during the regular season, while often matching up against the opposition's top receiver, according to ESPN's Adam Teicher.Sneed has recorded 40 passes defended, 10 interceptions, and four forced fumbles in 57 games with the Chiefs.

                        • The Russell Wilson debacle in Denver is just horrible decision making. They gave up the bank to get him, then overpaid him, and he walks away with guaranteed money and Denver gets nothing. Very Millenesque, IMO.
                          Got Kneecaps?

Yeah man that might be one of the worst trades ever.

It also shows that what worked great with one team may not work for another....They had no rush to give him that extension, yet they gave him huge money before he even played a down...That is all on the Broncos.

reminds me a little bit about how the Rams handled Goff, but they were at least able to trade him away and get something....and we did too!
