Someone will hire him. His drafting hasn't been great but wherever he goes, they probably won't give him the total keys. And depending on the situation, he might have some offensive pieces. I mean he drafted Mac Jones and you still think it was a great pick.
Eventually, everyone's drafting reverts to the mean. Drafts are inherently lucky. People catch up to your strategies or the game passes you by. But the Belichick as coach is still a great defensive coach.
His biggest issue is what happens to all older coaches, they have trouble filling staffs that aren't old guard retreads They don't know anybody new and fresh. The staff by the end isn't close to the staffs he had in New England or Cleveland.

Patriots defense was pretty damn good this year, especially given they lost 2 of their top 3 players and how awful the offense was. He can still coach that side of ball. But he's killed himself on offense, it cost him Brady, and he keeps going to the well for people he knows that won't rock the boat rather than making real changes.
If he's willing to step back on the personnel side and find an offensive mind that he can work with, he can go somewhere else and win. Heard one report that Atlanta was a team that was going to be very interested if he became available.

If Belichick goes to a team with a decent amount of talent, he’ll be fine. The problem is that the talent eroded in NE and he wasn’t able to restock it. Not to mention he couldn’t replace the most important piece. Brady jumped ship to a team loaded with talent.

Congrats to Jerod Mayo.
Think we’ve been hinted at for years that Mayo could be part of a succession plan. Seemed a little less likely that the Patriots would look internally after a disastrous season. In the end, it’s Mayo after all. He needs to nail the OC hire. I also recall wanting the Lions to draft Mayo in the Gosder Cherilus year.
NFL openings is a numbers game. Vrabel likely takes a job somewhere else. 1 fewer opening to worry about.AAL 2023 - Alim McNeill

Yeah, will be interesting to see if Mayo looks to make a clean break from Belichick and really forge his own path. (Imagine if he went back to the well again and hired Josh McDaniels). He's probably not going to clear out the defensive staff since that is a pretty successful group. But they should tear down the offense and rebuild it.

Just heard on The Dan Patrick Show that it was in Mayo's contract that he would replace Belichick. There was nobody interviewed.I feel like I am watching the destruction of our democracy while my neighbors and friends cheer it on
