Eagles traded for Kevin Byard. Pretty smart move to fill a hole. Love this trade and it goes to show why people say Howie Roseman is the best GM in the NFL.

Ok, Lions. Can you smartly do something similar for an outside CB please?

Yes, I would like to see a Lions make a move similar to what the 49ers and Eagles have done. The Lions’ competition is a little better due to the Randy Gregory and Kevin Byard trades. Smart and creative trades done for a cheap price.
Think about the Snacks Harrison trade from 2018. One of the rare good Bob Quinn moves of trading for a veteran defender to help a weakness. Snacks had a very positive impact on the Lions defense in the 2nd half of 2018. That’s what I’m hoping for, but perhaps outside CB. You could argue for other spots too.

Ah, read too quickly, thought it was just the picks. Still an upgrade for pretty cheap. Though those types of deals make more sense for win now contenders.

From what aspect? He was awesome the year we traded for him? The contract extension wasn’t great but it sounded like they were trying use him completely wrong which was Patricia’s MO

If the extension is bad, the trade was bad. It was all nonsense about changing the culture. They finished 6-10, what did the trade improve? He started pouting right away after they gave him the extension, great culture guy!

I had to double check just now because sometimes my memory is off…
Lions traded a 5th RD pick for run stuffing DT Damon “Snacks” Harrison in 2018. Lions defense ranked 30th against the run prior to the trade and finished the season ranked 10th. Obviously Snacks’ production fell off a cliff after the 2018 season, but he clearly helped fill a hole. Not his issue that the Lions had issues pop up elsewhere. The extension ended up being costly for 2019 … and 2020 depending on the cap hit structure?

Bob Quinn, bad GM, made a few good moves. Drafting Decker, Ragnow, and Golladay. I personally think the Snacks trade was worth it considering how bad the run defense was at the time. A broken clock (Bob Quinn) is right twice a day…
