Aaron Rodgers: I’m going to make Zach Wilson’s life heaven off the field

Jets quarterback Zach Wilson knew after last season ended that the team could add a veteran quarterback this offseason. He vowed, at the time, to “make that dude’s life hell in practice every day.”

On Wednesday, the Jets made the acquisition of Aaron Rodgers official.

“He’s going to make my life hell in practice,” Rodgers smirked, via Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News, “and I’m going to make his life heaven off the field. Part of my goal here is to help him get his confidence back.”

Wilson was a fanboy of Rodgers’ while growing up, and now he will get to learn from Rodgers. Jets General Manager Joe Douglas said Tuesday that was a “great thing” for Wilson.

“No one works harder, no one loves ball more than Zach Wilson,” Douglas explained. “And him having the opportunity to really shadow and be with a first-ballot, Hall of Fame quarterback every day, every hour he’s in the building, that’s a great opportunity and a great experience.”

The Jets made Wilson the second overall pick in 2021, and they are 8-14 with him as a starter. He has completed 55.2 percent of his passes for 4,022 yards with 15 touchdowns and 18 interceptions.
Trickalicious - I don't think it is fair that the division rivals get to play the Lions twice. The Lions NEVER get to play the Lions, let alone twice.

    • As much as I hate Erin for his keeping the Lions down all these years, that’s actually pretty cool of him.

        • The Lions didn’t need Erin’s help, they were very competent in doing it all by themselves.
          Or say incompetent

          • In a way it's perfect timing. It didn't matter for us what GB had since we sucked ass for so long. Now that we might have a shot, let the division finally be weak. I wanna see us clinch by Thanksgiving.
"Yeah, we just... we don't want them to go. So that's our motivation."

I was thinking that while I was typing it but Stafford, CJ and Suh probably could have accomplished more if Erin wasn’t always looming in the division. At that point the Lions never had the right coaches, coordinators and leadership in place

To me I can’t believe it’s even something that can be bet on. How far do we have to go down rabbit holes until there’s a bottom.

What if someone that is a known friend of the GM, coach, or owner goes out and drops a million (or whatever the max bet is) on Young to go first back when the odds were high? I am guessing there would have to be an investigation wouldnt there?

                    • Jaguars’ Cam Robinson facing PED suspension

Jaguars left tackle Cam Robinson will reportedly be suspended at the start of the 2023 season.

Robinson will be suspended for violating the NFL policy on performance-enhancing drugs, according to John Shipley of SI.com.

The length of Robinson’s suspension has not been reported.

Robinson has played his entire career in Jacksonville and has started every game he has played, including 14 games last year. He missed the Jaguars’ final three regular-season games and both playoff games with a knee injury.

When asked recently if Robinson would be ready to go this year, Jaguars General Manager Trent Baalke replied, “From a health standpoint, yes.”

Robinson signed a three-year, $54 million contract with $33 million guaranteed last year. His suspension may void the remaining guarantees on that contract, and his $16 million base salary for 2023 means he will lose $888,888 of salary for each game he is suspended.

                      • Brian Gutekunst: Having Aaron Rodgers’ contract off our cap will help us in 2024

The Packers gave Aaron Rodgers a massive new contract last year, and part of the calculation in trading him this year was getting that contract off their salary cap.

Packers General Manager Brian Guteknust acknowledged that the $40.3 million dead cap from trading Rodgers that hits their books for the 2023 season puts them fairly tight against the cap heading into the draft, but Gutekunst says the cap savings in 2024 are going to make the Packers players in free agency next year.

“It will certainly help us next year,” Gutekunst said, via Rob Demovsky of ESPN. “Excited to move past this part and have some assets for next year.”

The flip side of that is, the bill will come due for the Jets. Rodgers’ contract is cheap for the Jets in 2023 but has massive cap hits in the future. Those cap hits can change depending on whether Rodgers restructures or retires, but there’s no world in which Rodgers doesn’t cost a fortune against the Jets’ cap in future seasons. The Jets think he’ll be worth it. The Packers are glad someone else is paying him.

Could. I think it's a stupid bet with more chances to lose then almost anything else you could bet on. But good luck putting that cat back in the bag. Sports, notably the NFL, are deep into sports betting and Casinos don't GAF about any of that. They'll let you bet on almost anything.
