  • Report: Titans to release Bud Dupree

The Titans are moving on from one of their veteran defensive players.

Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Tennessee is expected to release edge rusher Bud Dupree.

Dupree signed with the Titans as a free agent in 2021 when he was coming off a torn ACL. But Dupree’s production did not match that of a top edge rusher, as he recorded just 7.0 sacks over 22 games in the last two seasons. An abdominal injury kept Dupree out for several games in 2022, as he started just 11 contests. He recorded 4.0 sacks, six tackles for loss, and nine QB hits.

Dupree was a Steelers first-round pick in 2015 and recorded 39.5 sacks in 81 games over six seasons for Pittsburgh.

There’s a chance an interested team could swoop in and trade for Dupree. But given his production over the last two seasons, that seems unlikely.

Releasing Dupree will result in $9.35 million in cap savings with a $10.85 million hit in dead money. But if the Titans use a post-June 1 designation, they’ll save $15.75 million against the cap with $4.45 million in dead money this season.
Trickalicious - I don't think it is fair that the division rivals get to play the Lions twice. The Lions NEVER get to play the Lions, let alone twice.

That Watson contract is a joke. Cleveland screwed themselves and every team in the league with that deal on a QB that hadn’t really played in 2 years.

Watson was one of the best but all that time off and all the shit going on. Terrible contract

Kicker is the one position that the Lions have had such stability at for decades minus a few transition years. Jason Hansen could have been one of the most clutch kickers of all time had he got his in the playoffs. That dude was money and Prater was equally as good.

Having a good stability at the position throughout the decade is important when you consider all the Super Bowls this team will be in.

        • Dennis Allen and Derek Carr on the same team again? Gotta be among the worst HC/QB combos of all 32² possible arrangements.

          • The JETS are going to be screwed if Erin doesn't go to NYC. Carr to the Jets would have been a much better situation for both. I don't think Saints are going anywhere but that's just me.

Yup. I posted a story from Florio (months ago) where half the league hates the Browns for doing that. They messed up the whole league. $200 mil fully guaranteed.

Before all of the shit he got himself into and the long layoff... yes absolutely I wouldn't have minded the Lions going all out to get a QB like that. He's talented as hell but they live under a microscope all the time. Its constant and it all takes a toll. The shit that Watson got himself into is likely over with but the repercussions of how he's spoken to and viewed will stay with him for a long damned time. The better he does at football the louder it will get.

I think he'll end up getting hurt or being a shell of himself. That long time without practicing etc just wasn't good for his career either.

                • I believe the biggest problem with the contract is that it is all guaranteed.

                  • The headline number is 4 years 150 million. But it's more like a 2 year 70 million dollar deal, unless he balls out.

Over the last month the Saints have converted 6 contracts into signing bonuses to clear 39 million. They are still 28 million over, so they have some work to do to get under by next week. You can restructure Lattimore, Peat and Kamara to save 20, after that it gets a little dicey.
Less than a year ago, we went inside the latest Derek Carr contract with the Raiders. We now get to do it all over again. We’re doing it all over again because the Raiders exercised their ability to ditch the contract after a one-year, $24.9 million arrangement. Now with the Saints, here’s what Carr is due to [more]

I don't know about that, they know that the salary cap is a myth, so they are going to sign at 2-3 more big ticket free agents and will be a Super Bowl contender.

                          • It was only a day or two ago that people thought Daniel Jones asking for over 45 million dollars a year was crazy.
Well, that didn’t take long. Not long a report indicated the Seahawks were finalizing a deal with Geno Smith, Jordan Schultz of theScore.com updates that a three-year, $105 million agreement is done. • Well that takes Seattle out of any drafting a QB with that 5th pick discussion....We have no idea what they are going to do, and they may be the one that trades down with Carolina, Atlanta or the Raiders.

Baker Mayfield not beating them at the end of the last season hurt our chance to make the Playoffs last year, along with their Denver pick hurts our LA Rams pick with the other teams that are desperate for a QB, since they pick before us.
