Wow, Le'Veon Bell released by the Jets.

... Remember reading and laughing about how in 2019, Gase didn't want to sign Bell (see attached article below). SO SHOCKED that it came to this.

The Jets had nowhere near the O-line Pittsburgh had.
The Jets had nowhere near the WR's Pittsburgh had.
The Jets had nowhere near the QB Pittsburgh had.

Bell's success was a byproduct of the Steelers. The Jets weren't the Steelers, in no way, shape or form that success could be duplicated there. To pay a kings ransom expecting exactly that was idiotic - you have to use that money to get multiple players and build a team first.

They fired former GM Mike Maccagnan in May 2019. They let Maccagnan hire Adam Gase, draft, and sign free agents.... then bailed on Maccagnan prior to training camp.
Like WTF? This screams dysfunctional. Fords aren’t even close to that incompetent. This rivals the mess that the Browns went through prior to 2020.

AND I never was a Gase fan... one of the few great takes I’ve had on the forum. Hiring the “offensive coordinator” (LOL ) for Peyton Manning?! Manning called most of his plays at the line! Duh.
Granted, I wanted the Lions to hire Ken Whisenhunt or Brian Kelly back in 2014. Whisenhunt was a bust in Tennessee.

Say what? The Lions can't fire their GM because their President knows little more about football operation than Andy Griffiths Football Story. Shit, the Lions NEEDED the NFL to help them hire Quinn in the first place.

He made sure he was right. As HC and OC it's HIS job to find a way to use him. Just another failure. How TF does a sub.500 HC get fired and hired like that? He's never shown anything but a decent resume. I was right. He isn't a HC. He probably isn't a OC. He stinks

Having Bell on my FF team last year I watched them as much as possible. Gase is VERY Cooteresque in his play calling. IDK many RBs that could find success there. And Darnold is better then he can show now. Gase is terrible.

Ryan Tannehill marvels at Derrick Henry’s “unbelievable” stiff arm

The Titans made a lot of big plays in their 42-16 beatdown of the Bills on Tuesday night, but quarterback Ryan Tannehill could only rave about one after the game.

That one was Derrick Henry‘s stiff arm that sent Bills cornerback Josh Norman flying, a play that Tannehill thought was both amazing, and par for the course for Henry.

“I screamed, ‘holy crap,’” Tannehill said, via SI.com. “That was unbelievable just to see the way he tossed that guy. Derrick is a special player. We’ve seen the stiff arm from him. I saw it all last year. I’ve seen it before I got here, highlights of it. Obviously, he’s strong, physically a tough runner. That was probably one of the meanest stiff arms I’ve ever seen, no doubt.”

While Henry had the big highlight, it was Tannehill who turned in a truly outstanding game, keeping drives alive all night as the Titans made a major statement that they’re among the league’s elite teams.

Mike Vrabel: Everyone in Titans organization will get a game ball

At one point in the not-too-distant past, it seemed like everyone working for the Titans would get COVID-19. Instead, they’ll all be getting a game ball from Tuesday night’s impressive 42-16 victory over the Bills.

Coach Mike Vrabel announced at his post-game press conference that all members of the organization will receive the honor — all players on the active roster and the practice squad, all cafeteria workers, every member of the cleaning crew. Everyone.

The team has been through plenty the past two 16 days, capped by a very real belief in league circles last week that the league would impose “historic” punishment on the Titans for violating COVID-19 protocols.

Apart from Tuesday’s win, the best news could be that the NFL apparently won’t punish the Titans at all, a notion punctuated by the Commissioner’s comment to Jay Feely of CBS that no one from the Titans “willingly” broke the rules.

And so the Titans apparently have crawled to freedom through five hundred yards of s-it smelling foulness I can’t even imagine. They’re also 4-0, thanks to their most impressive win of the season, by far.

Reports: Devin Bush tore his ACL

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said after Sunday’s win over the Browns that linebacker Devin Bush suffered a significant knee injury without mentioning a specific diagnosis.

According to multiple reports, it is a torn ACL for Bush. That brings the season to an end for the 2019 first-round pick.

The significant injury is a significant loss for the Steelers Defense. Bush had played every defensive snap this season before being injured and called the plays on defense for Pittsburgh.

Bush had five tackles and a half-sack before leaving Sunday’s game. He had 21 tackles and a half-sack in the team’s first four games of the year.

Robert Spillane took over for Bush on Sunday and will likely be playing an important role on the Pittsburgh defense in the weeks to come.

When Jets defensive coordinator Gregg Williams appeared to blame the offense for how many points his defense has allowed this year, it raised a question of who’s responsible for how bad the Jets are. Head coach Adam Gase says it’s everyone.

“We haven’t done anything well this year at all,” Gase said after the Jets lost 24-0 to the Dolphins on Sunday, via ESPN. “We just hurt ourselves so much. Last year, we trended in the right direction. We improved. . . . This year, we have to figure out a way to improve really quickly, from top to bottom, coaches, players, it doesn’t matter, everybody. We have to get things better.”

The Jets are 0-6, the league’s only winless team, but Gase said he’s not worried about his job.

“Nah, I’m not even thinking about it,” he said. “I have to focus on making sure our guys are ready to go when we get back in the building on Monday . . . and getting ready for this next game.”

Up next for the Jets is a game against the Bills. And likely an 0-7 record.
