Probably wouldn't get a comp pick because then Lions are expected to get free agents as well.

Federal investigation of Commanders continues

Congress has concluded its investigation of the Commanders, thanks to the November election. Mary Jo White has apparently shifted her investigation of Commanders owner Daniel Snyder into “molasses on a frozen sliding board” mode, thanks to Snyder’s November decision to explore selling the team. One entity is undeterred by recent developments, however.
Via A.J. Perez of FrontOfficeSports.com, a federal prosecutor in Virginia continues to investigate the team. Perez reports that the case remains open in the Eastern District of Virginia, and that at least one subpoena has been issued.
“The team has been fully cooperating with the Eastern District of Virginia since it received a request for records last year,” Commanders outside counsel John Brownlee told Perez in a statement. “The requested records only relate to customer security deposits and the team’s ticket sales and revenue. The team will continue to cooperate with this investigation.”
The issue of financial irregularities emerged during the Congressional investigation of the team, which started due to allegations of chronic workplace misconduct directed at female employees.
While the NFL’s investigation of Snyder may die on the vine if/when Snyder sells the vineyard, federal prosecutors won’t be deterred simply because Snyder no longer owns the team.
Trickalicious - I don't think it is fair that the division rivals get to play the Lions twice. The Lions NEVER get to play the Lions, let alone twice.

Taylor Lewan confirms he is being released

Titans left tackle Taylor Lewan said two weeks ago that he expected to be released, and now he has confirmed it’s official.
The Twitter account of Lewan’s Bussin’ With the Boys podcast broke the news that the Titans are releasing Lewan.
Lewan has missed 30 games over the last three seasons because of knee injuries, and he had a non-guaranteed salary of $14.8 million for this season, so it would have been a major surprise if the Titans had kept Lewan. Aging, injured and expensive are the perfect storm of factors that get players cut.
It’s still possible that Lewan could re-sign with the Titans for less money, or could sign elsewhere, but retirement would have to be a viable option for the 31-year-old Lewan as well.

And I'll bet if Holmes identifies "that guy," he'll shoot his shot. But if he doesn't see "that guy," he'll be more than happy rolling with Jared Goff for however long it takes, which is exactly how a smart GM should approach it. The price tag is going to be probably the least concern when it comes to Goff's future in Detroit.

Some GM or Coach or talking head summed it up when he said it is easier for a team to get worse at QB than it is to get better.
(maybe when talking about the Raiders cutting Carr? Not sure)I feel like I am watching the destruction of our democracy while my neighbors and friends cheer it on

Some smart dude:
“I think it’s a lot easier to get worse at quarterback than it is to get better at quarterback in this league,” Holmes said. “I think what Jared has done this year, he captained the ship of a top-three offense and I want to say he was top-10 statistically in most of the passing categories. We have to watch the draft, because we’re never going to turn down a good football player. So, if there’s a football player we really love, we’re gonna make sure no stone is unturned. But, I do think Jared has proven to everybody that he is the starting quarterback for us.”

I think people look at a team like KC as the model for how to handle the QB position.....They had Alex Smith...a solid veteran QB that was a winner....good but maybe not quite super bowl pedigree.....I give Andy Reid credit for recognizing the greatness in Mahomes when many others did not...heck the Bears drafted Trubisky instead of Mahomes.....What the Lions have to figure out is Jared Goff another Alex Smith, and can they identify someone that may turn into a Patrick mahomes type of player if Goff is not the guy?

Here’s a thought….
If the lions are going with Goff (and it certainly seems like we are)….I think it makes sense to spend significant assets on the RB position. Read a PFF article about the use of play action…and no QB in the NFL lived and died by the play action pass more than Goff (or Ben Johnson).
I think doubling-down at the RB position at a high-resource level might be prudent…and by that I mean Jacobs, Barkley, or Bijian. It seems we live and die by running and the play action pass, and if that’s what we do…let’s get the best players possible to do that.
