They bet the farm and lost.

From what I heard, sounds like Saleh wants to go back to Wilson. I think he wanted to take him out this past weekend just to settle him down and clear his head so to speak. I doubt the Jets move on from him this quickly.

      • Feel bad for Lovie Smith. Sounds like he was an afterthought after the Texans almost gave the job to that backup QB (I may be confusing this with another situation). So they hired him to appease the Rooney Rule and now they’re going to dump him after one season.

It might be the worst trade in NFL history, let alone Bronco’s.
"Well, that wasn't pretty, but it was beautiful,'' Lions coach Jim Schwartz said.

              • It is sad to see Matt Ryan look like he does. I was never a big fan, but he deserved better. Reminds me of a washed up Joe Namath in a Rams Uniform

He's done so much with the opportunity. Really led them places

                  • Lovie took the payday so they didn’t continue to get crushed in the media. I wish someone would pay me that much money to take a dive. Good for Lovie, I’ve always liked him.

I thought he’d crush it on Illinois

                    • Yeah, think Lovie was not blind here, especially after how they did Culley last year.

Hard to feed a family on a mere $5 million a year. Just ask Spreewell.

Yeah. I have been watching that situation for awhile. Wilson seems a bit immature. It is not a killer. Everyone is at some point. I think a little humble pie and having a true mentor like Brunell would really help. He could sit behind Goff for a year or two and then he could be ready.

The problem is that would be his fifth year and even if he had a good year, it may still be a gamble on throwing him $50 mil+
Trickalicious - I don't think it is fair that the division rivals get to play the Lions twice. The Lions NEVER get to play the Lions, let alone twice.

As for Lovie Smith. I was reading up about what the great Houston Texans follower John McClain had to say about it. Seems like Lovie Smith will end up being another lame duck head coach. Particularly if they don’t show signs of improvement.

Texans and Lions kind of had the same starting point in 2021. New GM, new HC, traded away the franchise QB, and a crap roster. Fair to say our Lions situation looks significantly better than the Texans 22 months into the rebuild.
Um no. The Texans are where we were last year. They had that NE guy in there so that puts them back a year.

But yeah, Houston Texans situation seems UGLY from my outsider perspective. They get the #1 overall pick. Lock it in. I’ll be shocked if it doesn’t happen.

My bad That NE guy is STILL there. Poor little tink tinks. They don't have a chance.

If McNair had an inkling of sense, he would get rid of that NE loser and start trying to find someone to build it right. They have a lot of draft capitol and "staying" a sinking ship is exactly backwards. It's the old Lions Hope Theory.
