  • Walker was also on one of the best college defenses of time and never produced. It’s not all about stats but at some point it has to be.

Some players never produce great college numbers because of schemes that don’t fit them or terrible supporting casts or whatever. Then they flourish in the NFL. I however wouldn’t draft on combine numbers with the 1st overall pick.
    F#*K OHIO!!!

Trent Baalke is how that happens. That guys always has to be the one who sees something no one else does. And he sees Walker as the best player in this draft.

        Is Baalke ever right?

How does that guy keep on getting a job, since he's so mediocre at best?

Kind of but right now it looks like Jacksonville might ruin that kid. Good QB put into a bad team with bad leadership very rarely works out.

            • Former Colts GM Ryan Grigson ruined Andrew Luck. It can happen. Ignoring the Colts OLine for years as Luck took a beating when it comes to QB hits.
Even the Lions with Stafford. I think Quinntricia made things so toxic here in Detroit by 2020. 2018 to 2020 being dreadful overall. I don’t blame Stafford at all for wanting out.

Trent Baalke appears to be great at sucking up to NFL owners. That’s for sure. 49ers picking Baalke over Jim Harbaugh in that dispute.
Seems like Baalke had mixed results as 49ers GM. High highs in the Jim Harbaugh time period … with things turning worse when Chip Kelly was brought in. Urban Meyer was a disaster, but that was an ownership decision. Baalke hilariously was part of that Jaguars clown movement. More anger at ownership… Jags fans wanting Baalke gone too.

IDK, we’ll see. Jags certainly spent A LOT this offseason to upgrade that roster. Interested to see if the quick fix method works for them. I love the Pederson hire as HC. Sadly, the Jags vs Lions game is one I’m looking forward to. Walker vs Hutchinson game!

It has happened to a lot of guys. Spending doesn't always equal success. Jags might be on the right path but it is hard to foresee a winning season for them.

                • I kind of feel about Lawrence in the same way I felt about Tua. Basically both of these guys came in as freshman on stacked teams and had immediate success so the majority of the public is anchored to those first impressions. Basically you are thinking, "If you can do that as a Freshman just think what he could do as a Senior!" Lawrence may turn out to be great but I don't think he was a sure thing, he is a better bet than Tua because he is tall and has a better arm.

There is something to be said about quarterbacks at less successful schools who have to succeed with less weapons.

                  • I have always doubted the Trevor hype. He has a really slow release and not very accurate. There's a lot of levers in his release.

                    • JAX should have got him an LT with that 1st pick. Robinson isnt a good LT IMO.

Yeah some of him comes off as a paint by numbers QB. Good height, good accuracy, really good arm strength, and for that I know he is supposed to be the highest rated since Luck. But he just doesn't look natural out there. Some of it is the rookie and little bit limited offseason. But if he isn't planning on running everything comes off as a little slow his wind up, his release, his progression.

When he got into the fight with Harbaugh, and then replaced him with a coach shaped scarecrow so he wouldn't have any power struggles in the future should have been the end to his career. Why would you want to hire someone that is willing to undercut the teams performance just attempt to strengthen his own personal position?

Willie McGinnist said something that I always look at. Does the guy woop the guy across from him? When you watch Walker, they used the excuse that he was on a loaded team, but he wasn't beating the guy in front of him. Even the highlights are timed to the time in that snap, when he finally broke through.

Also, when he did get through, was it because the OL made a mistake? Or did he just force the mistake? For instance, when you watch Aidan, his opponent often makes mistakes. Usually because he forces them. You see him slip in and out. Out and in. Etc... But Walker? The guy just hand fights the OL and eventually he gets free. I'm guessing the OL he goes against in the NFL will not be making as many mistakes and he will be muted.

I believe he would be a really good LB. Edge? IDK about that one.

                            • Yeah I agree Future and you said that around the draft about him being at better LB than anything else. It’s insane to think especially at his size but you see it on the film and it’s so true.

I hope the kid proves people wrong but I sure wouldn’t have selected him over Hutchinson or KT. Can you imagine either of those players on the Georgia defense?

Hutch had Ojabo but the interior on Michigans DL is terrible. Terrible DTs and KT wasn’t surrounded by well.. anything. Those guys would have destroyed down there

                              • I guess if you're Jacksonville, you may believe you have more time and are really slow playing this thing.

Man, whoever is the DL coach in Georgia needs a pink slip. All that talent and other then Wyatt, none of them have any pass rush moves. But they all are blessed with athleticism with speed and just get to the ball carrier fast. Most of Walkers were after the ball carrier got past the line of scrimmage though.

I wonder how he would have fit what they are saying the front seven will be like this year. They say it will look different because they will be attacking upfield now. He doesn't look like an upfield guy. He would seem to work best in a two gap read and react type defense if you can TEACH him how to shed.

But it is totally different when he had snaps at LB. He can just flow to the ball and you see the athleticism.
