There’s a lot of Willis and Hamilton momentum in mocks you see around the internet with Hutch the presumed #1. That just seems like straight guesswork at this point. But I have felt all along that Hamilton would be the one guy I could see them going for if not one of the DEs. I wouldn’t do it but can see them convincing themselves he’s the elite guy to go after.

Unless your calling 4600 passing yards and a QB rating of 108 as game manager numbers. He was in the top 10 for TD and passing yards this year

Jared Goff got to the Super Bowl with similar stats.

They should always be searching for a quarterback but a lot of guys with great stats have game managed their way through the playoffs and a lot of game managers have played amazing come playoff time.

Again, the Lions had a star franchise quarterback for 12 years and they went nowhere because the team surrounding him was shit.

Why, out of interest?

Assumptions:
1) Hutch will be gone at #1
2) The powers that be have concluded there’s something wrong with Thibadoux. I’m still struggling to understand why Thibs has fallen out of favor, but it’s a pervasive phenomenon at this point so…and this one might be the biggest IF….Thibadoux is passed on by the Lions
3) S is simply not worth a #2 pick…sorry Hamilton
4) The lions simply don’t need an OT. Yes they could pick one up and move him inside or trade Decker….but this seems like a waste of resources for for a team with so many holes.
5) Trevon Walker is athletic…but too raw, and simply not worthy of #2 right now.

Which leaves us with Willis….he has increasingly shown himself as a superior athlete (on par with Mahomes IMO), has reportedly aced interviews, and is apparently a model citizen and teammate. Add in the relative importance of the QB position (which is immense)….looking at the field right now, it’s a pretty logical choice

On what grounds do you base Thibs has "fallen out of favor?" I've seen a lot of draftnik conjecture about it, but not much else.

Vegas has his over/under at 5.5…so you can pretend there’s no basis for his recent perceived loss in stock if you want to.

But Vegas ain’t a bunch of drafniks…and while lines are partially set to ensure action on both sides…they are also based on very real information.

I pretty much agree with all of that. I’m firmly on the Thibs over Hamilton side but he’s perceived to be falling for a reason. Hutch put up completely insane numbers last year and deserves to be in contention for the #1 pick but he’s not as talented at Thibs.

If there’s any doubt he’ll turn Suh and completely f up a locker room like he did in Miami he’ll fall for sure. I just don’t know about Willis. A QB from Liberty?

While I don’t disagree it’s the time of year where clubs roll with dirty business and talk shit about players that they want to drop them, that’s only skin deep shit. These are billion dollar businesses, they’ll put their due diligence in on the players not just want them or not because Becky hates someone.

And KT is dropping not just because people are calling him out on legit red flags like “it’s too long of a day to continue on” after he talk shit about separating himself at the combine from his peers.

Thibs wasn’t good last year. Hutch went out and put foot to
ass and played his ass off sending him to the Heisman ceremony. That’s the season Thib wanted but he didn’t get. He did not put up great numbers on the field. If he goes out and puts up a 10 sack season and balls out none of this is in question.

Instead he compares himself to Clowney who’s another supremely talented DE that hasn’t lived up to his talent. The red flags are there. Honestly I still draft him on talent alone but you can’t say there’s not question marks

Its a fare point with Goff and similar stats but has a major flaw. His deep ball is terrible and I don't think it can be fixed.

We did have our franchise QB in Stafford and we f'ed that up but we knew that. Between the front office f'ing up drafts and sticking him with defensive minded coaches they made terrible choices and its why he went elsewhere and won. I have much more faith in Holmes and MCDC. They have a different approach to things but they have to come through with the drafts or it wont be any different. Year 1 was a great draft, they need to follow it up with another and hit on some mid rounders then spend some money.
