  • The dolphins search seemed pretty legit. He was in for a 1st and a 2nd interview (the 2nd one was like a 10 hour deal).

They we’re into Daboll early on (who wasn’t)…and then the news cycle switched to the Flores suit and (cover your children’s eyes) the concept of tanking for high draft picks…with a brief detour of will Harbaugh go to Minny.

McDaniel is qualified and wasn’t some last minute “interview a black guy” thing

it is pretty above board…the McDaniel isn’t black enough crowd won’t like it (But they have a pretty stupid take).

The word is that they were going to hire McCown until Flores dropped that nuclear bomb. They panicked and just hired the guy who was already there. Compounding the issue.

The guy they hired has been bandied about for a year now as a guy that would be a HC soon.
Trickalicious - I don't think it is fair that the division rivals get to play the Lions twice. The Lions NEVER get to play the Lions, let alone twice.

He was the layup sitting there for anyone to get and all the other teams just seemed to forget about him. I like Pederson

I’ve never seen a coach win a SB while his #1 QB was hurt and just get shit on like he did. He had zero support in the building. He was living a real life Game of Thrones saga.

He beat the Patriots with Nick Foles as his QB.

          F#*K OHIO!!!

          • Just thinking about it, they had Vermeil, Big Andy and Pederson. They ended badly with each one of them.

And I would be jealous if it weren't for DC. But what a vein of riches that they just squandered.

            • Pederson had the one great year, outside of that he was essentially a .500 coach before falling off a cliff in that disastrous final season (not all on him for sure). It's certainly possible the Eagles just had one of those seasons when everything clicked in that SB year and he's much closer to the .500 coach he was the rest of the time. That happens sometimes. Pederson also won a SB and had Carson Wentz looking like an MVP for about 10-11 games that season, which may be one of the best coaching jobs of the last decade. So he's good retread to go with and to pair with a young QB.

                Agree.

But all 3 of those coaches, coached for Philly and won SBs. They only allowed Pederson to stay long enough to win one there. They have the "bones" to be a good team. They also have the assets (draft picks) to be a great team. We'll see where they end.

                • They were setting Pederson up for failure and Jim Shorts was apart of that. That was such a stupid ass operation. Can you imagine Detroit being in that position of winning a SB? That coach would be treated like f'ing gold.

                      • Hey. I proposed this last week.

When the new NFL league year begins at 4 p.m. ET on March 16, it may be time to say goodbye to your favorite player...or welcome a new one. Unlike last year, when the NFL salary cap dropped by 8 percent to $182...

Detroit Lions: Sign S Marcus Williams

                        11 OF 32

The Detroit Lions are currently projected to have $21.1 million in cap space this offseason. With starting safeties Tracy Walker and Dean Marlowe both set to become unrestricted free agents, they'll need to address that position somehow this offseason.

The Lions will likely re-sign at least one of Walker and Marlowe, but they could also upgrade at the position by bringing in Marcus Williams.

The 25-year-old, who played under second-year Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn in New Orleans, figures to be a cap casualty for the Saints this offseason. He has a projected AAV of $15 million, per Spotrac, while the Saints are already a league-high $76.1 million over the cap.

Williams had only two interceptions, eight passes defended and a forced fumble in 16 starts for New Orleans this past season, which doesn't necessarily justify an eight-figure salary. But the Lions would be paying for future production, especially with the knowledge that he'll fit into their existing scheme.
They should be able to sign him for less then that. His numbers don't equate to that payday.

                        • If you resign Walker and get Williams, you have competent S play and you don't have to jump on one early in the draft. (Though I'd still be all over Dax Hill if he's still around due to his ability to cover)

                          • I would like to get Williams and Dalton Schultz. Also would consider Gallup (love that dude's potential) or Godwin. Both coming off ACL's, but maybe that drops their price.

                            • Uh yeah. I would prefer they draft guys and keep the FA signings to a minimum. They are going to be taking on 9-11 draft picks this off season. I want to see those guys get a shot at PT before a retread. Especially a injured retread from somewhere else.

Roll that money over until 2024 and after we've added 30+ young, talented speedy and proud young men () then complete the set (like the Rams did this year).

And these draft picks will eventually need to be re-signed like TJ, Amani, etc...

Hard pass on Schultz and Gallup

                              • I disagree. You win by filling your roster needs with mid tier, short term free agents and then drafting BPA. If you go into the draft fishing for needs you're gonna pass up better players.
