  • I could live in Florida but Jacksonville wouldn't be a preferred destination.

He was great for us when we needed it but I’d bring in someone that can make Lawerence great. Caldwell has never showed any sense or being able to develop a young QB.

      They’re stupid if they do
      F#*K OHIO!!!

I tend to agree, but they can always hire a great QB coach or OC

        • Byron Leftwich, Doug Pederson, and Jim Caldwell are the top three names I would consider in the Jags coaching search.

          - Leftwich. High ceiling, low floor. No experience as HC, but could be a home-run if the Jags get it right. Mystery box hire.

          - Caldwell. Middling ceiling and floor. Safest to get the team going in the right direction. Caldwell is not a HC that can get you over the hump when the roster is ready to contend. Colts fans feel like Caldwell underperformed despite the one Super Bowl appearance. Peak Peyton Manning years.
Lions fans feel like Caldwell couldn't get the team over the hump. Consistent at beating bad teams, losing to good teams. What is Caldwell's health situation? He had to step down as OC for the Dolphins a few years ago.

          - Pederson. Combination of a high enough ceiling + middling floor to make this idea interesting. Pederson won a Super Bowl as HC. Questions about his end in Philly. Power struggle with the GM.

The concern is how Khan kept GM Trent Baalke. Jags fans are not happy about that decision.

            • Pederson should be the guy if he wants to jump back into it. He does wonders with his QBs and the exit from Philly is more on the GM then him.
Trickalicious - I don't think it is fair that the division rivals get to play the Lions twice. The Lions NEVER get to play the Lions, let alone twice.

              • Leftwich, Pederson, and Caldwell are all QB centric hires too. Could help Trevor Lawrence get his NFL career going in the right direction. I think that’s the right idea for the Jags.

Stafford was a little reckless before Caldwell came to Detroit in 2014. Stafford certainly changed during the transition from Schwartz to Caldwell with the turnovers going down.

I do though think the Jags are in a better position. Their team has already been through the purge year(s) that CHI will inevitably have to go through. Mack, Hicks and other guys on their D (the only good part of that team) are older and will trend rapidly downward real soon.

As such, (after their purge) Jax will have a tremendous amount of cap that can be spent. Will they spend it on the right guys? We'll see.

Draftwise, the Jags get to pick who they want and CHI will have to wait until the second round to add young, affordable and controllable talent and by that point the Jags, Philly and the Giants will have picked twice. The Lions and Jets will pick 3 times before they do. So what you say? Well, 2 (or 3) teams may all pick from one position group and leave a guy(s) at another position group that you really need. Like WR or OT. But one team picking that many times are surely going to dilute some of those positions.

Lastly, I love the city of Chicago to visit and do some fun things, but, I think I could live in the Florida heat for 365 days a year. F the snow. JAX WINS!
CHI could always offer us 3 future first rounders for our Rams pick in the first round so they can go up and get their next Trubisky.

Well, Fields still has a shot if they can get that nincompoop out of there before he screws his head up.

CHI did that already to get Fields btw. Now the Giants have 2 top ten picks. Gettlemen will surely F it up.

                      • Caldwell would be a great coach for Lawrence. Developing a quarterback is overrated as a head coach skillset. As long as he isn't hiring a schlub for an OC it would work out.

That's his kryptonite. He let Cooter run him out of a job. As loyal as the day is young, he stood by that guy until he got fired and Cooter got to stay. I like Caldwell, but that is a huge sticking point. You can't sacrifice the effort of dozens of men and women for one guy. OR he couldn't tell the guy didn't know what he was doing because he started hot. But the league caught on to what he was doing and he had no change up.

Is Cooter still NYJ RB coach?
