Now, that's how you fire a coach.

        • Holy shit. They did it right.

The Lions should have done that with the rocket mechanic bearded lady.

          • It obviously had to be done. I don’t think every owner would fire Urban… credit due to Khan for making the move. Turned out that he made a terrible decision in hiring Meyer. Try to save Trevor Lawrence’s career.

Now surely the Jags can win a game or two with Bevell leading the team.

            • Did Jaguars report Josh Lambo’s claim to the NFL?

Urban Meyer is gone, but an item of business that first emerged publicly on Wednesday may cause a lingering issue for the Jaguars.

It’s unclear whether the Jaguars reported to the NFL the claim made by former kicker Josh Lambo that he’d been kicked by Meyer.

The Personal Conduct Policy contains no ambiguity. “Clubs and players are obligated to promptly report any matter that comes to their attention (through, for example, victim or witness reports, law enforcement, civil litigation, or media reports) that may constitute a violation of this Policy. Clubs are expected to educate their employees on this obligation to report.”

If Meyer did indeed kick Lambo, that’s a clear violation of the Personal Conduct Policy. The moment Lambo’s agent told the team about Lambo’s claim, the Jaguars became aware of a “matter” that “may constitute” a violation. It’s that simple.

The league had no comment on whether the Jaguars reported the incident when it happened. The Jaguars, based on their statement to the Tampa Bay Times, did nothing with the matter because they were waiting for more from Lambo.

“Jaguars legal counsel indeed acknowledged and responded immediately to the query made by Josh Lambo’s agent Friday, August 27, 2021,” the team told the Times. “Counsel offered to speak with Josh, or to assist Josh in speaking with coaching or any other football personnel, if he was comfortable with her sharing the information. Any suggestion otherwise is blatantly false.”

The last part refers to Lambo claiming that he has no recollection of having the opportunity to speak with the team’s legal counsel. The Jaguars presumably said nothing to the league while waiting for more from Lambo.

Regardless, Lambo’s agent put the team on notice of the allegation. That’s the moment the NFL should have been informed, based on the plain terms of the Personal Conduct Policy.

Will the league do anything about it? Like everything else, they will if they want to. Regardless of what the relevant standard provides.
Trickalicious - I don't think it is fair that the division rivals get to play the Lions twice. The Lions NEVER get to play the Lions, let alone twice.

              • Damn. Sucks for Godwin. I also thought about the idea of the Lions signing Godwin in free agency.
Good for my fantasy team this year with AB expected back next week, but whatever.

                • Certainly seals the deal for the Bucs as far as if they had any integrity as far as Brown is concerned. They'll be keeping him.

                  • Funny how Arians' view on AB took a complete turn based on the injuries. Oh now they want AB.

Soooooo wrong/ stupid Mike Tannenbaum. How dare you share this, Adam Schefter....

                    1. You are comparing the Jags to the Bears. Fields is on the same contract (but cheaper) than Lawrence.
                    2. Comparing the Jaguars to the Warriors isn't close to a comparison. 2021 Jags are more similar to the 2009 Lions.
                    3. A LOT of people are saying Lawrence is a generational QB. Have you actually watched how bad he looks in the NFL? I'm not suggesting the "B" word or anything. Lawrence looks far from Andrew Luck. Do you know how good Luck was as a rookie? Even last season... Do you know what Herbert did as a rookie with the head coach (Anthony Lynn) that the national media loves to pick on?

                    • The Jags are in a better position, but they aren't where the Warriors were. Tannenbaum underestimates how great of a coach Kerr and he underestimates the tweaks he made. Basketball has changed so much because of the Warriors people forget what it was like before their success. Running your offense around the three point shot was done before but it was then understood you could never win a title that way. Also players just didn't switch on defense all that much. When the Warriors started doing that, people thought it would get exposed.

I think the Jags are in a better position, but it isn't that much better.

                      • I’m going to go out on a limb and say the Jags won’t hire Caldwell.

The Jaguars, scheduled to interview former Eagles coach Doug Pederson this week, will also interview Jim Caldwell and have requested interviews with several coordinators, sources told ESPN.

He's always barking up the wrong tree.

I do though think the Jags are in a better position. Their team has already been through the purge year(s) that CHI will inevitably have to go through. Mack, Hicks and other guys on their D (the only good part of that team) are older and will trend rapidly downward real soon.

As such, (after their purge) Jax will have a tremendous amount of cap that can be spent. Will they spend it on the right guys? We'll see.

Draftwise, the Jags get to pick who they want and CHI will have to wait until the second round to add young, affordable and controllable talent and by that point the Jags, Philly and the Giants will have picked twice. The Lions and Jets will pick 3 times before they do. So what you say? Well, 2 (or 3) teams may all pick from one position group and leave a guy(s) at another position group that you really need. Like WR or OT. But one team picking that many times are surely going to dilute some of those positions.

Lastly, I love the city of Chicago to visit and do some fun things, but, I think I could live in the Florida heat for 365 days a year. F the snow. JAX WINS!

                            • Caldwell would be a good hire for the Jags. He would be thouroughly unimpressive to the fans, but that franchise needs a stabilizing force.
