I still can't believe it was fans from the same team throwing down against each other. That right there is a rarity. It's always someone from opposing fan bases throwing down.

Well, for the most part it had been when they were in Oakland that they would be fighting. Other fans or whatever. I'm glad they're now in Vegas.Trickalicious - I don't think it is fair that the division rivals get to play the Lions twice. The Lions NEVER get to play the Lions, let alone twice.

My BIL (big dude and former boxer) was at a Tigers game at Philly when a Philly fan started giving another Tigers fan crap for cheering Detroit. My BIL told the Philly fan to shut his mouth and said the other guy could root for who he wanted to. Philly fan shut up."Your division isn't going through Green Bay it's going through Detroit for the next five years" - Rex Ryan

John Mara: Taunting is a point of emphasis because we’re “sick and tired of the taunting”

The NFL has reminded players, coaches and officials that taunting is a point of emphasis this season, which has led to some criticism that the NFL is the No Fun League. But Giants owner John Mara is standing by the taunting emphasis.
Mara, a member of the NFL’s Competition Committee, says there’s widespread agreement among the people who make the rules that a crackdown on taunting is appropriate.
“That’s something we discuss every year in the Competition Committee,” Mara said. “We get kind of sick and tired of the taunting that does go on from time to time on the field. We tried to balance the sportsmanship with allowing the players to have fun and there’s always a fine line there, but none of us like to see that. It’s just a question of whether you can have rules that can be enforced and without taking the fun out of the game too, but nobody wants to see a player taunting another player. I know, I certainly don’t. I think the rest of the members of the Competition Committee feel the same way, too.”
When it comes to taunting, there seems to be an age divide, with people like the 66-year-old Mara far more concerned about it than NFL players in their 20s. But it’s the owners who make the rules, and Mara and his fellow owners are sick and tired of the trash talking.
UPDATE 9:35 p.m. ET: Although the transcript of Mara’s comments published by the Giants quoted Mara as saying “sick and tired of the talking,” a review of the audio reveals that Mara actually said, “sick and tired of the taunting.”

Get of my lawn!!!!
What a bunch of ninnies. This stupid rule is subjective at best and will end up forcing subsequent tweeks and rules to try and get everyone on the same page.
Or they could have just left it alone. SMH
They're tired of taunting, but you know what happens when a penalty is called? Yup. We get to see it 2-4 more times (maybe even in super slomo) while they hash it out.
Sure Jimmy. You're tired of it.Last edited by Futureshock; August 18, 2021, 08:37 AM.Trickalicious - I don't think it is fair that the division rivals get to play the Lions twice. The Lions NEVER get to play the Lions, let alone twice.

Wait, we signed frickin Jordan Ta'amu over Rosen? I don't think Rosen is a great QB. But, he was a high pick and starter in the league. His value is probably in being a good backup that can run the offense and keep the team from sinking like every Lions' backup QB's since Shaun Hill.
IMHO they just want someone they could easier cut after Blough/Boyle get back healthy. With less backlash.
49ers are waiving Josh Rosen

Josh Rosen has spent time with four teams since the Cardinals drafted him in the first round in 2018. The quarterback will need a fifth chance if he is to make it in the NFL.
The 49ers are waiving Rosen, Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reports.
Rosen went 10-of-15 for 93 yards and an interception in last weekend’s preseason game against the Chiefs. He played 33 snaps.
The Cardinals made Rosen the 10th overall choice in 2018, and he played 14 games with 13 starts as a rookie. Arizona moved on in 2019 after drafting Kyler Murray with the first overall choice. A trade sent Rosen to Miami, where he appeared in six games with three starts in 2019.
Rosen signed with the Buccaneers’ practice squad last season, and the 49ers signed him to their active roster late last season. He did not appear in a game in 2020 but signed a futures deal with San Francisco in February.
In his career, Rosen has completed 54.8 percent of his passes for 2,845 yards with 12 touchdowns and 19 interceptions. His teams went 3-13 in his starts.Last edited by Futureshock; August 18, 2021, 08:51 AM.Trickalicious - I don't think it is fair that the division rivals get to play the Lions twice. Some takes don't age well.
I remember not understanding why ARZ wasn't sticking it out with the kid and moving on after just one year. Ooops
Well played ARZ. Well played indeed.Trickalicious - I don't think it is fair that the division rivals get to play the Lions twice. The Lions NEVER get to play the Lions, let alone twice.

Lack of special-teams experience ended the Tim Tebow tight end experiment

Tim Tebow was good enough for the 90-man roster in Jacksonville. He wasn’t good enough for the 85-man roster.
The team included Tebow in the first wave of roster cuts, ending the tight end experiment and basically bringing his football career to a conclusion.
“We knew that was an uphill battle for Tim [Tebow],” coach Urban Meyer told reporters on Tuesday. “Players loved him, locker room loved him, but it was the right thing.”
Is it over in the NFL for Tebow?
“I would guess it is,” Meyer said. “You know, we didn’t get that deep with it. Obviously, he’s his own man. [He’s] an elite warrior, an elite competitor, but he’s also 34 years old.”
Meyer said Tebow’s reaction was “great,” and that they talked about it Monday night and Tuesday morning. Ultimately, there was one major reason for Tebow’s inclusion in the initial cuts.
“It was special teams,” Meyer said. “This whole roster management is really critical as we journey here into the next two weeks. Two of the special teams phases are tackling and he had never tackled. . . . The tight end position is one of those [positions], and tailback, if you can’t contribute on special teams, that’s a tough go.”
As we noted on Sunday morning, the fact that six tight ends played on Saturday night and only Tebow didn’t participate in a single special-teams rep spoke volumes about his chance to make the roster.
