Voting is not a chore. It is a privilege. That is what used to be taught in elementary schools. I bet many here have brought their young kids into the booth with them.

Only the Dem party says it is a chore. For 250 years folks have gone to the polls to cast their vote This is about mail-in voting and would be corrected by having four days to vote in person in federal elections.

When someone says they have trouble voting because they do not have a photo ID, the question to ask them is "..is that because you are too stupid to get an ID or because you are too lazy to get an ID."

Now, you answer why not have voting only in person (with a few exceptions like invalids and military)? Why is mail-in voting so important all of a sudden? Could it be that Ds don't want to limit voting to adult citizens?

No, voting is a right. It is not a privilege.

Folks going to the polls is not the complete issue. There are difference in polling places. Some are made far more difficult than others. In many areas people have to wait 4-6 hours in the cold to vote. That is discouraging voters. Some voters don't have reliable transportation. Some have disabilities. Some have health conditions that make covid and flu season a big risk. Regardless of their reasons, they are Americans. Their vote matters. They are not less important just because people like you are judgemental. They are not less important just because they don't live in the right area, or make the right amount of money.

This idea that "main in voting is important all the sudden because fraud" is a simple excuse designed to keep the stupid in line who aren't smart enough to see that these regulations are designed to suppress votes.

Now you have to answer - why is it so important that we suppress the rights of Americans to keep certain politicians in power? Try to take a gun away from a person and you people lose your minds over "rights" but suddenly it is ok to take away the right to vote because that right doesn't matter?

Rather than relying on suppression of votes and gerrymandering the Republican party should try actually earning the votes of some voter base beyond the racist base and the ignorant base. The people of the United States have rejected the bullshit platforms of the Republicans.

There is a reason that in the last 34 years only once has a Republican won the popular vote in America. Americans don't like them. They stay in power by putting rules in place to suppress the will of the American people.

Mail in voting is convenient, as voting should be. You have to apply to do so. You have to be a citizen and you have to be a registered voter. They don't just mail you a ballot. You have to have that application approved. You have an issue with it over problems that aren't real.

Trying to come off as rational as you read from the Alex Jones fraud playbook is never going to convince anyone that they should do things your way.

No, i don't want to give up the convenience of voting on my own time in silence and privacy to go stand in line with a bunch of assholes. You fail to give evidence of real reasons why I should. I don't care if you feel elections aren't secure because of nonsense. I know that they are because of facts. There is no reason to cater to your whining.

          • At the end of the day, Republicans want voting to be "a privilege" (read also; a chore) because they discovered they can no longer get a majority of the American public on their side. Rather than amend their platform, their solution is to restrict who votes. They want voting to be the domain of people with the time, money, and opportunity to clear the ever rising bar of "proof" and stand in line for hours on end if need be; i.e. people who tend to vote Republican.

"If conservatives become convinced that they can not win democratically, they will not abandon conservatism. They will reject democracy.” Not always a fan of Donald Frum, but occasionally he nails something spot on.

            • So who would you rather have voting. The ones that take time out of there day and make it a chore or the ones that can do it with a click of a button or mail in and not possibly have the right credentials ( dems were fighting for no licenses needed). Who needed the comfort votes to win in the last election. Don't think it was the Republicans. Mail in votes are the reason the Don lost. But I'm trying to wrap my head around how it's better. I also get the disabled and ones that can't get to the voting polls tend to be democrats.

That's not a thing. There is a perfectly fine system that catches inelligible votes. As it has done recently. Such votes are not counted. And it is is 98% REPUBLICANS who were caught doing it when there is cheating.

When you don't have a valid argument, you can just keep inventing problems that don't exist, I guess.

I am perfectly fine giving consideration to differing points of view and having discussions. But the MAGA lemmings offer no policy insights or thoughts. All they have is perceived grievances, invented problems that don't really exist and culture war nonsense to offer their followers. They offer nothing to provide improvement of people's lives, only a shared celebration that 'others' have it worse. And people who can't see it love to join the club and root for the side offering them acceptance. That is the lack of critical thinking that results in complacency in the 'comfort' that no changes are needed, and no civic participation is needed to create a better society. No solutions, just finger pointing.

Did you know that in 2016 more Republicans voted absentee than Democrats? It only shifted in 2020 to be heavily democratic voters because of how the different parties viewed Covid. As well as Captain Cheeto and the Alex Jones/Roger Stone love triangle deciding they wanted to tell their voters it was bad. It was a moronic strategy. It still is. You're discouraging your own voters with an imagined problem.

The idea that mail in voters aren't "taking the time out of their day and making it a chore" is ridiculous. I guarantee I spend far more time than the average voter sitting in front of my ballot and researching candidates than the average voter does walking in to vote and going straight party. I just don't want to stand in a line with a bunch of assholes in fucking cold ass November. Everyone who is eligible to vote should be able to, conveniently.

Well you got what you’ve wished for. Sleepy Joe must be the peoples president. He totally has the countries best interest in mind especially with law enforcement. It’ll come in handy when everyone’s broke as a joke.
